Years ago before I got with my beautiful wife of 13 years I was with this broad she had a 2 store house and her girlfriend tracey was staying on the top floor I'm a 100 percent disabled retired fireman and urban search and rescuer I have osteoarthritis all through my spine and I have severe nerve pain nerve damage and neuropathy I have osteoarthritis in my left big toe I have osteoarthritis in my left knee I have 2 bad shoulders and I have 2 bad hands will the plumbing broke and she asked me to fix it so I got out there in severe pain dug up the pipes to fix it I told her the pipes I need and to run to the hardware store and get me the pipes and she laughed and said you're the man it's your obligation to spend your hard earned money and she gave me an ultimatum and she said if my plumbing isn't fixed by thst night you will not get vagina for a month I stood up and I laughed and I said fix it your fucking self and I left to never look back well 2 weeks later a sheriff deputy came out to my house and served me with a temporary order of protection and this broad named all the guns I have in the order of protection trying to get my guns taken away from me well when I had court I had all the evidence proving my innocence and the judge found me not guilty and I told the judge I want to press charges on her lying on a court document and the judge said I can't press charges I said why the judge said because of I arrest her it'll send a bad message to all the other women not to come forward so this broad got away with lying and this broad even brought st the time her 17 year old daughter to lie on me this broad was saying I was harassing her and stalking her this broad got vindictive because I have the balls no other man had to tell her to fuck off

As a woman which is almost turning 40 and with a lot of relationship experience, I can tell you, that the situation is bad on both sides. I am a person that is exclusively monogamous, I was always searching for a relationship and still, I had quite a difficulty finding a proper partner. Most of my exes had this irrational fear of commitment, there is just this fake idea of freedom and belief that being in a relationship is limiting, and actually, if you find the proper partner you can have the best of both worlds. I and my partner love spending time with each other and we love coming home to each other because even though we have single responsibilities and different hobbies, and ideas, we enjoy different stuff, we love the life we have together and we love coming home to each other after fulfilling the individual needs we have. Also, we invest time to do stuff we both like and that also brings joy and another dimension to the stuff we do together and this Is what I can do with him because both of us aren't afraid of being limited or being afraid of commitment, we see the commitment we have as something that is beautiful and uniting.

Also, with my previous exes, I had the experience that it was expected that I compromise and carry the weight of the relationship because it is normal. Their stuff was considered per se as more important. One of m exes couldn't tolerate that I have a cat he sees 2 times a week but felt it is completely normal that I tolerate his child who is living with him and is 24/7 more priority than I am. With my other ex, everything he did was more important because he had an idea he is chasing a career that in his opinion is more important than mine. Or one that never paid for anything since he isn't working now full-time but I am.

But to be fair, for my failed relationships I am also to blame for a single reason of having too much understanding and wanting to have a relationship at any cost since I come from a culture where having a relationship is normal and women need to do more to please their partner. The first time I communicated properly with a man what is what I want (a serious relationship with commitment and no bullshit) and what is what is my no-go and what is the stuff where I am willing to compromise, I found the right person.

Therefore I believe we all should also look for the answer in ourselves and see if we are contributing to the problem, define what is that what we want and search for in a partner, then open ourselves to the search and not give eternal time, energy and understanding to person, yet to see them as persons with good and bad sides and invest as much in them as we get from them. Otherwise, we end up feeling tricked with a bitter feeling in the mouth.

You're absolutely right, I'm a single male just turned 25 today. Haven't been in a relationship since I was 18, I've had hookups and friends with benefits but I prefer being single. I won't lie, I've had a few nights every two weeks where I do imagine having a girlfriend again, but personally it's a lot of work. I want to be happy on my own, I want to work on myself, my education, my career, and after that I want to be careful when dating because of how easy a man can lose all of that due to accusations or emotional manipulations or infidelity. We have much more to lose if we pick the wrong woman, and even if we marry the right woman there's no promise that she won't get involved with the wrong crowd that turn her against you. And I've heard a lot of stories of good wives who end up cheating on their men after they got a new job or took a new hobby and found some new friends that had a bad influence on her. It's hard being a man in a relationship these days :(

It's much as people say they are equal they are still treated as not equal in the way that they cannot control themselves, they cannot be corrected on their behavior, and men are responsible for not only themselves but women and their behaviors. Men when something gets heated with women are told to walk away, I've never heard anyone say that to a woman even if she is the initiator and has physically touched a man in an aggressive way.
