I would gladly like to keep my eyes on my bins as they go through the scanner. However, on my last flight, TSA staff took my bins while I was still unloading, and put them through scanners in other lines. I was travelling with family; my wife has cognitive disabilities, and finding all my stuff across multiple lines was a nightmare. Any suggestions?

I made mistake #10 last time I flew. Got all the way to my departure gate when I realized I didn't have my boarding pass. I had to go all the way back to the security area and luckily found it on the bench I used to put my shoes back on. On the flight back I left my tablet inside my carry on bag. At my home airport they told me it was ok to have it inside the carry-on, but then in Las Vegas it needed to be out of the bag. Had to have my stuff rescreened. Luckily I always arrive at the airport with lots of time to spare if I can help it.

I have had 2 knee replacements( titanium ) as well as foot surgery that left me with metal pins in my toes. As I’m approaching the security scan, I catch the eye of a scanner and make an up and down sweeping motion. They then direct me to the appropriate line and call for a hand scan. It saves time since I don’t go through the scan twice - once while they decide I need a hand scan and another as I have to go back to the right machine.
Love your videos!

I gotta go through hell to go through TSA to travel and illegal aliens. Do not have to go through that to travel. I am an American citizen and I have to go through hell to travel illegal immigrants that came in this country illegally. Don’t have to go through this IP taxes they use my taxes to live here free of charge. Thank you Joe Biden you feckless arse…..! It is obvious the TSA does nothing to protect the country. Does everything to make travel more difficult for the American citizen?

I have a tip: Don't take any totally unnecessary electronics. And most importantly....... Keep a close eye on your items and the TSA. TSA has a huge amount of criminal employees that steal everything they can get away with. Sometimes they work in pairs. One will distract you while another will go through your carry-on and your coat pocket.

Great tips! I dread flying & just learned not to overpack after yrs of multiple suitcases. I now carry 1 & step aside to let my daughter do everything,😅 h/e; my biggest issue is walking a ml (when it's JFK & the likes) to get to the plane. I don't remember when that became the norm but I can't stand it

We wear one pair of socks to be taken off thru TSA security, then after clearing out, we pull off those socks and place in a baggie, then put on a 2nd clean pair. Any floor is assumed dirty.

i still do not understand the reason behind the 100ml limit? when you can fill a bottle on the other side. if a group is travelling each can have 100ml so if they aim is mischievous they can do whatever they want; all these measures inconvenience the average law abiding citizen and create work for the security industry. a lot of it power exercise.

One tip I would add is to smile, and treat the TSA agents nicely. More than likely they don't want to be there any more than you do. They also probably get a lot of angry and indignant people to deal with all day. A friendly smile and a gracious attitude could really bless them. Even if they are nasty, its unlikely that you being nice will make things any worse for you, and could improve your situation.

I ALWAYS USE WEB BELTS WITH PLASTIC CLIPS. I PUT EACH POCKET'S CONTENTS IN INDIVIDUAL ZIP BAGS, THEN PUT ALL THE ZIP BAGS IN A SINGLE LARGER ZIP BAG. EVERY THING ELSE (PHONES, ETC) GO INTO A STRIP OF TOUGH PLASTIC BAGS. ALSO TIE A COLOURED RIBBON OF A BRIGHT COLOUR TO EACH BAG.

MANY DESTINATIONS ARE VERY INTERESTED IN CELL PHONES - THE CONTENTS, THAT IS. 1. BACK UP *EVERYTHING* TO CLOUD. 2. REMOVE THE SIM. 3. BEFORE ARRIVAL, A. DO A FACTORY RESET, B. RUN THE BATTERY FLAT (BOTH THESE ITEMS PREVENT CASUAL OPERATION - EVEN IF SCANNED).

I ALSO REVERSE POWER CONNECTIONS AND ADD A SHUNT DIODE.

FINALLY, BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR FINAL DESTINATION, RENEW YOUR PASSPORT (MAIL OLD ONE HOME) SO NOSY COUNTRIES CANNOT SEE WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN OR FOR HOW LONG (DRUG SOURCES). UK, USA, EIRE/ISLAND ARE BAD.

PURPOSES OF VISIT: NAME CATHEDRALS, GRAVE OF RELAVIVES, FAMOUS BUILDINGS. NAME A PERSON & AND YOU RISK THEM CALLING THE PARTY.

It doesn't work for international flights but I'd highly recommend getting TSA pre check. There's no need to do any of this crap. I never remove my shoes, electronics, medications or liquids. I just toss my stuff on the belt and go right through. I've been stopped once. I forgot a bottle of water in my bag. We tossed it and I went on my merry way.

Besides carrying things I can't take through security, like my pocketknife, I've found it much easier to check a bag than to try to cram everything into a carry-on I'm likely to have to check anyway.

[sigh] I also remember when you could just get on the plane without all the security theater.

Bad experience coming from Atlanta airport because I forgot to dump a tiny little bit of water from my water bottle, the TSA lady kept talking to me and I couldn’t understand anything…. She starts shouting at me, didn’t let me drink it, instead she made me followed her to the beginning of the line again, she didn’t let me put my shoes on or take my backpack and carryon with me, thank God my sister waited and she was keeping an eye on my stuff.

Even tgen I missed hearing one of the TSA afents sayingbsomething and sge had to get snappy. I complied as fast as I could and then walked thru the scanner. BI yad no pockets or metal on me but both flying to & from I had t9 be hand scanned. It was an advent7re to say the least.

Yes, the suggestion, avoid travelling, do so only if it is really necessary. Otherwise, use Video-Chat to communicate or if it is for holidays, select & watch a travel movie of places, you intent to visit...afterwards, go down to your nearby favorite place/restaurant/seaside/beaches / shopping mall etc. and enjoy... the peace and tranquility. Travelling in 2023, is still problematic, there is Covid re-emergence, extreme weathers and flight routing may pass through hot War Zones and these days, very high risk exposure to thefts & robbery, at one's travelling destination.

The no brainer is join one of the programs that give you a Trusted Traveller number, even if you don’t fly out of the states get a NEXUS card.

It’s like a VIP pass. Your boarding pass will say TSA PRECHECK - No need to remove shoes, belts, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, or light jackets.

Lots of Canadians have NEXUS Cards and skip through fast track TSA lines while Americans strip down to their tightly whities and wait for the anal probes.

Tip 11, don't travel as a Type 1 diabetic with a continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump in the US. It is a nightmare. I don't blame the workers, but I doubt the TSA has ever consulted with the FDA on the subject. They know their mandate and they are going to fulfill it, regardless of the potential effects on the well-being of the passengers.

I have a tip: anyone going through the scanner thinking you’re going to get through with the money belt with a metal buckle even a lightweight aluminum buckle you’re not going to make it.
Wear pants that you don’t really need a belt. I find sweat pants to be more comfortable flying. Anyway, sweat pants with good zipper pockets on the sides are nice. That way anything you put in your pocket won’t be left behind in an airport seat. Back to the money belt coil it up put it in your backpack or your carry-on, and keep your eye on it. I coiled mine up with $5000 of hundred dollar bills in my backpack and they never said a thing. But when I went through the TSA scanner the first time, the aluminum belt buckle set it off. The TSA lady grabbed the zipper and unzipped it all the way from one end to the other and dumped $5000 on the ground right in front of everyone! So put your money belt in your bag. Go to the bathroom and put it on once you get through the checkpoint don’t leave it in your bag and get separated from your bag or put it in the overhead compartment on the plane with the money in that keep the money on your personal time. I just put the body belt on over the sweat pants with a baggy shirt hanging over the top.
Or just wait until you get to your hotel room to load your money belt or wherever you’re staying. Just keep the cash in your regular wallet, or in your backpack out of sight out of mind in a closed zipped pocket preferably.

Clothing tip...do NOT wear anything that has embellishments...snaps, decorative buttons, zippers other than on pant fly, sequins, embroidery, etc. Also, my biggest pet peeve is that the scanner can't be calibrated to identify small metal bra strap adjusters that are on practically every bra worn by women. If you can wear a sportsbra without wires or adjustable straps...do it!

Do not carry liquids at all.
If you do not need it on the plane, check it.
Keep your batteries together and in carry on. Some countries have limits on power banks (china) know the rules.
Secondary inspection takes 10 minutes if you checked everything. Not much to search in a backpack.
Do not wear metal jewelry or watches. You do not need it. Wear plastic, glass or ceramics as they do not trigger the scanners.
It takes practice to have a plan. Think when you pack and have a plan for putting everything in again.
If you need more time filling bins, stand aside so you are not delaying others.
To repack, move as far down the tray table as possible and get out of the way.

You only need to remove your shoes in north America. The rest of the world does not do that. In Japan if you have a bottle of water, they have a special scanner for it, so there is no need to empty/return to the security entrance. However, I take an empty water bottle with me and fill it up at a drinking fountain later. Though I put all small items of toiletries into one small plastic bag, security seem not to be bothered about it, at least in Japan and Australia. I put all metal items including trouser belt (it has a brass buckle) into my backpack before getting near the entrance to security; then all I have to do is put my small backpack on the conveyer belt (on a tray) and just carry ticket, boarding pass and passport through the metal detector gateway. I never let go of my passport and do not send it through the x-ray. I don't take a laptop with me because I have never got any work done anyway, so that goes in the checked luggage. For checked luggage, I use a ghastly purple/yellow/blue spotted strap to distinguish my case from all the others.
So, it is best to think in advance and be a little bit prepared rather than just walk into security and then start thinking about what to do and where everything is. And not just for yourself but also for others so that everyone can go through smoothly.
My luggage has never been searched, but in Australia I was once asked to be checked for explosives as part of a random check procedure.
