Walmart's Self-Checkouts Get WORSE, Paying Customer Ends Up in Prison

As a cashier i have lost my Job because of Self checkout ………

I just get groceries delivered to my home. Not worth the drive and hassle.

The self-check out I do believe they were meant for 10 items or less, not the monthly shopping spree. Don't blame the store blame the theives who created today's inconvenience of shopping and higher prices.

Thankfully I live in an area that has other options, so I have never had to shop at a Walmart, ever. Too many rural communities across the US have had their local Mom&Pop grocer type stores run out of business by Walmart, so I guess it's not really surprising that Walmart ends up treating their customers so abominably for using the only checkout option they are given, because they literally have no other option to take their business elsewhere.

Hiring cashiers would solve all the problems, but this is a way for Walmart to make more money from customers.

Keep making excuses for black people robbing these stores blind...

It’s dehumanizing to pick up your goods at the register? Back in the 80’s, I remember I used to love shopping at a place called “Best”. They had only one of all of their products on the shelf. If you wanted it, you grab a slip with the barcode on it and you go to the register and pay. Then you go to the back and all your items were unloaded from the back and placed in your cart. I still remember how much fun it was waiting for the items to be pulled from the back. All the customers would get excited when they saw their orders on the conveyor belts.

Only law enforcement can detain you. I used to work as security for a big box store, and we can't detain anyone. We could ask you to wait. Now, if I saw you stealing, it's a little different than asking for a reciept. Once you pay for your items, that's your private property. Remember that.

Lawsuit against walmart.

Everybody should claim there's a mistake on the receipt and have them check all the items before leaving !
Maybe that'll make them give them up and hire people !

So we now are forced to do all the work and they don't pay us for it !
So they are the ones doing the robbing !

You also have to watch the checkers,i got charged with 2 printers and 2 vacuum cleaners.

I dont blame retailers for taking action, its the 'progressive' government that did this. Looters feel entitled because nothing happens to them. There are even books called 'In Defense of Looting' at Indigo Books. Every heard them yell 'Defund the Police'.???

Self checkout doesnt allow cash

I have had a produce item in my hand because it was dripping water, gone thru a cashier and totally forgot to show it to get it punched in, did this a couple of times......geeez being absent -minded is dangerous....

I don't know if you really appreciate the irony of the term "self-checkout".
You're complicit in rendering student jobs obsolete.
You're helping to destroy the economy.
If no one works, then there will be a dependence on universal basic income.
When the government decides what you can use that money for, you're not free to do anything.
It's sort of like living under the roof of controlling parents who tell you when you sleep, what to eat, who you can associate with.
Most people do what they can to leave their childhood home to live an adult life.
And of course there are pros and cons, but you have choice. You can discriminate between what's good and bad.
They've even made the word discriminate a bad word.
You're not going to be allowed to do anything, and that's why you doing yourself in this way, destroying your economy is ironically called "self-checkout".

Self check out is a result of complaints by people who think employees are not making enough to get by. One of the results of these complaints by people who don't understand business is the self check out. Saving on payroll allows business' to continue giving lower prices. I spent over 30 years in the grocery biz - I've seen it all.

Its easy.. stop using self check out. I'm not an employee.. havent used a self check out in years.

So if a cashier double scans your item can charges be placed employee scamming customer?

Last time I was in a Walmart, which is not very often, there were 3 people in the self check out area and a huge line in the one manned check out counter, it was around 7pm. Shoppers are terrified of Walmart's corrupt decisions about self check outs. While the despicable Walton Family attends galas in high end couture their innocent customers are in jail, found to be innocent and then get no apologies.

Costco checks carts and receipts at door too. If walmart has customers use self check-out customers should get employee discount.

This is weird, seeing how things have devolved in the US. I live in India, and the local supermarket I go to has everything out on the shelves, nothing locked up. They even just let me use the makeup testers on my own, unattended if everyone’s busy, because no one’s trying to steal anything there. Amazon packages get delivered to our home when we’re out, and no one steals them for hours until we come back home. I’ve left my purse in my parked car and gone away for an hour, no one has ever tried to break in or steal anything. I can’t even understand how things have gotten this way in the US, it’s so sad for the people who don’t steal.

People needs to wake up. I feel we are getting ready for the mark.

I think it depends on who's running the store. Once my card didn't go through and I was heading for the door with $80 worth of unpaid groceries when an employee asked if I'd gotten a receipt. He was super chill about it and just showed me how the payment didn't go through. I just paid and left. That's how it SHOULD work.

I wouldn’t leave a cart full of paid for items at customer service simply because security accuses me of not having paid for something. This would only happen if I didn’t want to take responsibility for having stole an item.

Walmart is out of hand. The cops are out of hand when dealing with alleged thieves! One item out of how many and you did it on purpose🤦🏼

I was self-checking out once, I scanned the item and I thought I heard the beep so I placed it in the cart. The computer showed me placing the item in the bag and said I didn't scan it. It freaked me out so badly. I never did self-checkout again. Companies pay for cashiers.

It's nice to see some of stores doing something to stop shoplifters rather then going out of business.

When I was a kid I worked at a couple different grocery stores. The 1st store had zero cameras, I should know, I stole a candy bar everyday I worked there😊 the second store did have cameras, so I didn't steal. This was before the iron curtain fell. I think I was getting paid $2.85/hr before tax. But I was just 15 so I didn't need it to live.

Don't do their jobs. Make them check out or leave the full cart in the aisle.

I'm never using the self check out.

Just stop making more self checkouts. Fill check stands with actual employees.

I don't have a problem with what they are doing because to many States don't do anything about the theft sure they go to jail for maybe an hour and then they are out and doing the same thing again. And I don't think that honest people should have to pay more because others don't want to pay. It's wrong and we are tired. I think that the only people who are upset are people who still ‼️

I know I checked myself out and I try to check back on the computer thing and set the price showed up but I did buy a little package of dog food and those things would run up to $9.70 actually they were only o.97 so I had to take it back they kind of argue with me.. but I still buy the one little package but I make sure on the computer thing that it says 97 cents.. and not $9.70

I love when stores complain about the amount of theft and it is such a small amount of money compared to revenue. Walmart loses money to theft at a couple million, they're revenue is still in the billions.....

I always avoid it. But for a different reason. If they become successful among store consumers, that means no more cashiers. One maybe two store employees per vast aisles of self-checkout stations. A whole bunch of employees (cashiers) get fired because they are now no longer necessary. Even worse, is when cashiers actively encourage you to use self-checkout stations. No thank you! Do you want to be fired?

If you can don't shop at Walmart. The crash and grab thieves get away but the momma buying candy for the kids forget to pay she gets jail.
