thanks so much for these videos! is the principal the same for mac?
ОтветитьI moved my documents folder. And now FL can’t find any of my plugins. How can I reverse what I’ve done here
ОтветитьHit the dislike button twice! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
ОтветитьThis was so perfectly helpful. Thank you.
ОтветитьAfter changing the location of the Documents folder to the second drive, can the original Documents folder on the first drive be deleted?
Ответитьdo u use NTFS or FAT system ?????
ОтветитьI’m getting an error message stating that a folder exists in the ‘Documents’ location that cannot be redirected. How do I locate this mysterious folder that is holding up my moving the Documents folder to an external SSD? If anyone can help, please respond. Thanks!
ОтветитьLets do a video on how OneDrive will destroy all your settings files and VST location files. 5 years of work down the drain.
ОтветитьExcelent,, any advise for mac?
ОтветитьThanks for your tutorials Mike where did you put your Pictures and Music Folders or did you leave them on C: drive?
ОтветитьFor the Kontakt case, will we think the Kontakt as a plugin and all Kontakt based Instruments as Library in terms of file management?
ОтветитьA very newbie question: why are plugins and instrument libraries separate? Many instruments are also in VST format, do they count as plug-ins and what is the boundary between plug-ins on the C drive and instrument libraries on other drives? What are the boundaries between plugins on the C drive and instrument libraries on other drives? please answer, thank you!
ОтветитьGreat information!😎
ОтветитьI've got a question. I moved my documents from the C drive to an external drive, and everything seemed to go fine. The only issue is that it didn't actually free up any space on the C drive. I checked before and after moving the folder, and the space usage remained the same. When I look at the properties of one of the folders, it shows that they're on the external drive. I'm really confused about what's happening here. Any suggestions or ideas?
ОтветитьWhats the diference between "instrument libraries" and " sample libraries"?
ОтветитьVery helpful. Especially the shortcut thing. Thank you
ОтветитьI work IT and when I saw you make a shortcut to fool the plugin location, I almost spit out my coffee. GENIUS MOVE. Very clever, sir! THAT is using your resources lol
ОтветитьBest data management tutorial ever! Thx!
ОтветитьWow, Mike, What a pleasant guy
ОтветитьSo once you move the files over to a hard disk drive do you then delete the folders files on your laptop?
ОтветитьThanking you for a very informative vid. Ta.
Ответить"Dislike twice" won my like. Great content, mate.
Ответить🙏🙏✊
ОтветитьI’m obviously missing something here. Have tried this a few times on Win11 I just keep getting an error “ Can’t move folder because there is a folder in the same location that can’t be redirected , access is denied “
Really frustrated as I don’t want to load further plug ins until I got this licked. I’m
Only on a laptop, but do have ext drives .
Thank you.
ОтветитьLast year I moved my cakewalk projects to an external hardrive. When I went to work.on them next I could play them but I couldn't edit them, and I couldn't add to them. I eventually gave up on them
ОтветитьAwesome Awesome Video !!!! Thank You sooo much
ОтветитьGreat, helpful vid. Thanks! Worst case scenario here - Running everything from a single laptop drive (2TB Samsung Evo SSD). Would partitioning the SSD for separating data be effectively the same as using separate drives?
ОтветитьGreat video Mike thank you! I have one question for you. I saw that you moved your cakewalk projects off your c drive. What about other cakewalk files like the audio file folder etc? There's a huge list in the files section of the preferences. What (if any) others should we move off the c drive? I assume one creates the folder on the new drive and then set the preference to that folder within cakewalk. Then any new projects will work within those folders, while existing projects work within the old locations that they were saved to? Is any of this correct? I literally just got a ssd drive for my laptop as a second drive yesterday and need just a bit of advice. Thanks 😊
ОтветитьThank you so much, sir! This really helped me a lot.
🙏🤝
Hi Mike - I moved one of my VST Plugins (Spitfire LABs) onto an external SSD. I'm not now getting clicks, farts, and hisses when playing the instruments - not a lot, but enough to distract. Is there something I could do to combat that? Thanks - Love the Vids!
Ответить“hit the dislike button, twice” lol
ОтветитьHi! Could you please give me your opinion for the best file management for my setup?
- Mac Studio 1TB SSD, 64GB RAM
- 1TB External SSD Thunderbolt
- 1TB External SSD Thunderbolt
I need the best solution for audio recording/mix/production AND some video editing on Final Cut.
Thanks!
Man I needed this, I literally have fl studio files that are named “dasdas” “sasdsasd” thank you
ОтветитьVery useful reference!!thanks
Ответитьthank YOU!, important, very important information👍🏽
ОтветитьI went through the process on my laptop to move my documents to my D drive that's in my laptop from my C drive once I completed that the document folder is still in the C drive. The question I've been having is can I delete the content that's in the document folder in C drive to clear up more space? And if I did that would it give me any problems with the stuff that's in there like my instruments😎🎼✌️
ОтветитьStill a great video on practical logical File Management for Music Makers! Good Work Mate!
ОтветитьBeautifuly done, we'll done Mike thank you very much that was super helpful
ОтветитьGreat, informative video. Thanks!
I’ve been working off of a single 2TB SSD and have started noticing performance issues as it fills up, now I know why! As for a solution...
Would love some advice. I work on a laptop so and extra drive isn’t an option, although 2TB is enough for what I do. Would partitioning the drive have the same benefits as I’d keep all sample libraries and project files separate from the system drive? If so, how much is recommended to keep the C: drive running smoothly? A 50/50 split?
Thanks again, keep it up!
What if I have 1 main pc at home and 1 laptop for traveling?
What should I put in which computer and what should I put in external drives?
Great video again Mike. I just wondered what your thoughts are about using a partition on the C drive with just the OS and the other partition with DAW, programs etc. Makes me think that if windows ever goes down I can possibly reinstall and my programs etc remain intact and no need to reload. Would this be possible and if it is would it be a good idea?
ОтветитьWhere would be ideal location to move things like kontakt or reason or should they be left in the c drive
ОтветитьWoah, my C Drive is only 232 GB, Mike's is 930! Luckily I have a 2TB D Drive
ОтветитьThis is hands down one of the best videos on this
