How NOT To Start As A Graphic Designer — Is There Hope For Junior Graphic Designers?

I applied for 1,003 jobs since 2019 and still nothing, yes freelance but it's so hard to the point I feel like moving into another career path this degree was as worth less as a liberal arts degree

As a community college student, my school doesn't have programs for this, so I've been looking up opportunities for graphic designers to get feedback like the annual portfolio review held by AIGA, or the One Show portfolio review. Are there other ways you would recommend to have a portfolio review outside of school?

What are some non popular books to learn how to create good looking and functional layouts and compositions?

I would like books that are not well known or books that aren’t heard of much cause all the popular books on layout don’t teach anything! don’t provide techniques to start from just definitions of the principles

So any books that you can provide that taught you how to come up with good layouts for any design you do
