Alita had no right being such a good movie considering that these type of sci-fi action movies featuring a female lead are so hard to get right.

Consider similar films such as Æon Flux featuring Charlize Theron. An Oscar winning actress was wasted in that film due to the poor execution when adapting the source material to the big screen (To be fair, MTV execs ruined the original vision of the director by meddling with the production).

Alita could've also ended up being as bad and boring as "Ultraviolet" featuring Milla Jovovich. That's another movie with a female super soldier that fights using a katana set in the future.

Alita is an adaptation that is loosely based on a manga. The fact that it took many liberties from the source material, almost made it a sure bet that the movie would be a disaster.

But the fact is, this Alita movie worked! Its a pretty competent movie with a lot of heart. Its pretty amazing that it did work all things considered.

LOL It looks so flat w/o all the CG, music. This movie.... man oh man... It could have been better if the story were more Pinocchio/Astro Boy (inspiration) and less adolescent wet dream. They could have made a cinema classic in line with Metropolis with this IP.

you can feel how much these people LOVED making this and how much everyone was passion about, James even not directing was several times there while they filmed

I watched this movie Continuesly two days. Was still attractively Excellent for me for a reason, that is i like ALITA amd THE REAL PERSON WHO FEATURED ALITA. She have done an extremely best performance. I'm a new fan of her from now on.

First this underrated movie from IMDb and rotten tomatoes, now it becomes high rating in IMDb 7.3
and in rotten audience 90 %, critics is 61%
Overall this movie is the mostly creative movie from animation to real characters and all scenes are very realistic and powerful in performance add proper use of technology, I don't know why this movie not nominated to Oscar winning?!!!! It deserves more attention from critics and film makers!!!
