How to Install Python - The Right Way

I have Python installed, but I want to upgrade it to the latest version, i.e. Python 3.12, do I still install it?

Oooh, Noob here. I guess I got it installed okay but I was expecting a "program" not a command prompt. It's been 50 years since I got my Associates degree in Computer Science. Apparently I've forgotten some things.

I had watched this video a few months ago when I installed Python 3.10, so I did add it to PATH that time. I now want to install version 3.11.1 so I deleted the previous version. What do I do? Do I add this version to the PATH as well, or leave it alone since I did it in the previous version?

Also, let's say I skip this step. Is there a way to add python.exe to PATH later on? Or if I add right now, is there a way to remove it later?

Hi Giles, I've installed for the first time and I followed your instructions from the other video (setting up the dir for pyver and pyproj folders). Now I have a few questions, how do I start to use it? Do I have to go through cmd every time to activate the venv before I start working on a project? And every project I initiate I need to create a folder within pyproj for it? Thanks!

But you had us press Path here and there is Modify left on the installer where which Customize install location is grayed out. I am not able to set up Virtual Env.

Can I just uninstall etc and redo it without adding to path and create virtual environments instead? Or is it a lot more complicated than that?

I can’t remember if I checked the PATH checkbox or not. Is there a way to check? Would it be ok to uninstall and then reinstall?
