Doodle Bug In Flight Watched By Families (1944)

Mom was in London throughout the war, came to South carolina a few years after the war..
She told me all about the doddle bugs, she said after the Normandy invasion, Hitler really started sending them over

It says a great deal that people have forgotten the freedom of so many other nations that so many ordinary English blokes died by the fact that this clip has been viewed by so many but liked by so few. All enjoying the sacrifices of men who gave their lives

Remember them very well, as long as it kept going nothing to worry about. When it stopped that was the time to find shelter.

Me too, and memories initially ie of the first day or two when no one quite knew anything of their physical appearance.
And what of those terrible moments seeing what might be one afar and coming towards you yet no air-raid warning siren had sounded!
And when it became clear to all in the classroom, pandemonium and a mad dash down the stairs to the shelters!

I will never forget the weird sound they made. It still gives me a shiver when I hear it.
