I just noticed, the BGM that plays during this scene is thd same as what plays during Theo's rant at Lena. At that time, Lena was being taught a harsh lesson. In this scene it was Anettes turn to learn.

Aren't these two supposed to be friends? Or am I confusing people.

As the story progresses i really liked Annette, especially in the books. She felt real remorse and teied her best to help the squad

I like how when Lena backs up and Annette walks forward, it's moving from the light and safety of her home into the darkness of the rain, visualizing how Lena is persuading Annette to come over to her side.

Something neat about this scene is that at the start of the scene, and also while Annette is acting like she doesn't care about Lena's question, she's safe from the rain, while Lena, uniform and all, is getting soaked in it. But right after Lena mentions Shin being in her group and Annette finally wanting to know about him and if he cares, she steps into the rain. But not even just that though, because if you look at when she does, Annette is holding on to Lena's clothes, and Lena steps back further into the rain, in a way, pulling Annette into it. I'm pretty sure the rain represents involvement with the 86, and Lena is metaphorically and literally pulling Annette into that.

i still hate him for his take on 86, that its just spoonfed racism anime.

One thing I love about this scene is that it emphasizes that BOTH main characters of the show can be unhinged and become mentally void of anything else. Shin zones out completely in certain times when he's engaged in battle. He smiles an unhinged smile when he hears the horrific screams of his brother, when he's outnumbered a thousand to one, or when Kiri as an unbelievably monstrous Legion unit (Morpho). That alone is obvious.

Here though, Lena is blatantly preying on Annette's conscious like a predator with prey. She smiles a devilish smile watching her friend, whose gone through so much regretful turmoil growing up, become erratic, hysterical and utterly dependent on Lena. This is a scene you'd see characters like Darth Vader, Megatron and other villain icons enact, but Lena's our main character. If/when the next season comes out, I hope to see more of that demonic mentality from Lena; it's just so enticing and badass!
