Exploring the SEMANTIC MODEL in Power BI

Is it possible to filter off any measure from the calculation group. For example, there are two measures for total sales and total price. There are three calculation items for current, MTD and YTD. When I put the calculation group item in the report, that will display value from both two measures. But I want to display only total sales under current. Do not need MTD and YTD under current. But need to display total sales and total prices both under MTD and MTD. I will be very appreciated your advice. Thank you in advance

Can we use these calc groups in a slicer?

Big question about calculation groups - why can’t I sort the columns in a matrix visual?? This is a show stopper for me…

Thanks for this tutorial. Very useful! Actually, one of the drawbacks with calculation group in reality is that in the case of using user customization which users are mostly PBI beginners (or even little knowledge), it's very challenging for them to drop & drag the correct wanted measures & understand how it works.

Another really great and clear video! Thanks! One issue that came up to me in how you showed calculation groups is that in the matrix, there does not appear to be any header or title that shows the base measure was Actuals vs Forecast. This could lead to problems with end users if someone changes the base measure, forgets to change it back, and the rest of the team goes on making decisions on the report without knowing. Is there some built-in signal on the visual as to the base measure that you didn't show?

Hi , at first thanks for nice video. And now I would like to have a question.

I have a problem in my report, I took this report from ssrs and remade it for power bi.


And problem is this... in ssrs there was sql query behind report and that query took two DATE parameters and then used them in that query... this is the condition in query "Interviews.DateCreated BETWEEN @From AND @To
OR
Interviews.DateModified BETWEEN @From AND @To"

and now in power bi I dont have this condition in my query and I import all the data into that report and then I use filters on that report but problem is that I can use just one date field in my date slicer... so instead of data where interview.DateCread OR interview.DateModified match value from my slicer input I can get data where it matches just one.. for exaplme I can use interviews.DateCreated in my slicer and then I get data based on this filter and thats fine but I also need to check if there is some interview where interviews.DateModified is in range from slicer.

How to solve this issue?

If you let the CY = Selectedmeasure() you will get the wrong number, depending on the definition for the measure your use, in your example, [Rev Actuals] do not have a restriction over a particular year, so, when you use it on the matrix visual, the number displayed is for all years, I tried to use instead a version of that measure restricted to the current year, but I did not get the results I wanted, and only CY and YoY were displayed on the visual, CY was displaying the right number, but YoY wasn't. I kind of solved it by placing some logic on the definition of CY,

and then I used as base measure one with no restrictions over any year, like Sum(factSales[Sales])

It seems that I'm the only one who was more fascinated by the possibility of translating reports than by having a calculation group inside Power BI directly. Unfortunately I wasn't able to achieve the effect you showed. I translated selected data in the tabular editor and uploaded it to Power BI. New language appears in Cultures . TBut in Power Bi Service only the English language was updated (the names were different than in the report) but the Polish language did not work (neither Dutch). The language changes for general data, e.g. for the value total in tables in Polish, it appears as "suma". However, other than that it hasn't changed. Any ideas what didn't work?
