It's devastating they took 10 days to find him if what other army vets say what is true! That he could have survived.

Takes more than one bullet to put down a SEAL. You practically have to unload an entire clip.

I didn't like this, this really pissed me off to be honest!! If this was another country and we did this. They'd be trying to try us under Geneva convention. They missed the 1st shot, then shot him in the head!!!

the only problem with this scene is that the people who made it werent there and there no way the other seals had time to pay attention to him like this

I absolutely hate how people are trying to discredit Marcus cause there was a chance axle was still alive I get it no man left behind and if he did say there was a chance he was alive maybe they could of found him in time but really the man went through hell id like to see anyone else go through what he did get rescued and be in the right frame of mind

Fun fact the movie is bullshit and when the Rangers found axe like 12 days later he appeared to have only been dead a day or so but because Marcus said everyone was dead, search efforts were slowed for safety and security. Have a nice day everyone.

Every time I see this scene I’m reminded of my own experience having to fight my way down a mountainside, my enemy was Mother Nature and she beat me to holy hell with scrapes everywhere, cuts all on my body, bruises in places bruises shouldn’t exist, and ultimately the same feeling axe had when he saw that helicopter go down. He knew he was gonna die the same way I knew I was gonna die but the stark difference between a warrior and a solider is that a solider stops when he’s done, a warrior stops when the war is done.

I feel less silly after reading the comments. I watched this movie with my parents as a kid. I was very young, but I remember this scene being the only scene in movie history to make me sick. I had to leave and go to the bathroom and started throwing up. No movie has ever done that to me. Later in life I did have to witness something gruesome and it made me feel the exact way this movie did. Horrified. God Bless those who gave their lives on this day and every day

They should have listened to him when they first found the people

Started Watching this movie again. I can't do it w/o getting pissed off. Pissed because they should have had drone support the entire time to provide recon. Pissed because they were so scared to kill them and that led the Seals to get in trouble... the ROI are NOT fair at all. That's why in Iraq back in 03 we did NOT follow them at all. That's why I'm still alive today. I'm most pissed because our Dementia in Chief pulled out the way he did, after all the lives lost... what a waste all this was.

Axe is my favorite character in this movie we have a lot in common.

The purpose of the mission was to "see and not be seen", the fight, as tough as it was, was not the kind of fight this team should have been fighting. The deaths of these dedicated, well-trained men was a waste of lives as well as a valuable military asset.

I don’t ever understand why they only send 12 men to fight dozens upon dozens of enemies.

These men were warriors in every sense of the word. Some of the hardest humans to ever exist.

They were looking to a kill Ahmad Shah, who was actually an enemy of the Taliban an Al Qaeda until the USA invasion, then he switched sides. Ahmad Shah's cell was small, and no where near the 200 Luttrell recounted. It was a bad insertion where fighters heard the SEAL helicopter, and not the goat herders that gave away their position. It is not believed Luttrell's team were attacked by as many as 10 fighters, which is still a hefty advantage. Luttrell was allegedly found with still loaded mags, and admits to plugging his ears while a teammate was screaming for help. Poor guy probably lives with a wall of survivors guilt daily. Doesn't matter what happened in my opinion. It was a bad mission and those men were screwed over but the USA military.

Ahmad Shah's forces killed 19 U.S. special operations personnel during the mission.

I hated this scene more than any other, I think, ever. And then in the book, Marcus says tht when his body was finally located it was obvious that they repeatedly shot him in the face with Ak-47's. Axe was a warrior. And had they Shwacked those goat headers these men would've probably lived, at least through the Red Wing mission, if not up until this very day.

He's fighting on instinct. Don't know where he went mentally to be able to portray... survival but he did a great job. He's like a cornered predator taking down anything that comes close, never been more dangerous. It's disturbing and it should be, watching someone fighting for their life while also dying. That moment he looks at the sky gets me.
