Que video lindo... Um documentário! Mário deu um charme especial! Thank you
ОтветитьLisbon is a place one can't just see in six days it needs 10 days to 15 days 🎉
Ответить❤
ОтветитьDave congrats! Amazing work 👏. Thank you for everything you doing for our country. I have spent 3 hours seeing your news videos. Is 4am in the UK and every time I see your videos gives me such a joy. But can't sleep after lol and i just get anxious to come back there and find again that great peace you talk. that I only find in portugal. Al the best 👌
ОтветитьAmazing film mate
ОтветитьI went to lisbon for a week and it was so amazing. Especially as a solo female traveler, it feels so safe and everyone is so nice and giving. Riding the bolt scooters to get around was so fun and easy. I decided a week ago I am fed up of the UK and my first thought was why don’t I go Lisbon! So I am aiming to move there by Jan. Can’t wait to explore all the street art. So beautiful.
ОтветитьFor the love of art 🫶🏾
Ответить🎉
ОтветитьSuch a great video, interesting and entertaining 🙌 as Mario talked about growing up there, I wondered what it would be like to raise kids in Lisbon today 🤔 Thanks Dave
ОтветитьMário Castro is definetely one of the best tuk tuk drivers in Lisboa (and one of the oldests) thank you, Dave, for giving us the chance to prove you there are professionals in this business. This open mind you have of just letting someone showing you a different point of view is refreshing and invigorating. Thank you. You made me an even bigger fan of your work 😉
P.S: even though we have the same name, I'm not him, just a colleague i respect a lot)
Hi Dave
I am going to Lisbon in November
How can I contact Mario
Thank you!!!
As an alfacinha de gema like Mário, i have a different opinion about the supposed airbnb problem in places like Alfama and Mouraria. People simply don't remember anymore how these places were ridden with drugs and prostitution. Now they are being renovated and are a source of pride to Lisboa.
ОтветитьRenovications, airbnbs, high tech companies, drunken weekend visitors, are happening everywhere these days. We need another revolution. Oh, the imperialistic past of Portugal is nothing to be proud of. Spain was just as bad. The English come in third.
ОтветитьGreat vídeo, definitely one of the best vídeos i have seen about Lisboa. And it is my town. Good work Dave.
ОтветитьI'm so happy I found this video before my trip to Lisbon. I was able to book a tour with Mario and it was amazing. Mario has so much passion for his city and so knowledgeable historically and anecdotally. By the end of the tour, I felt like a new friend was made. If you are in Lisbon, I highly encourage you to take this tour with Mario. Thanks @daveinportugal for posting this video!!
ОтветитьDave, love your help in experiencing Portugal. In addition to learning history and basic local culture, do you recommend the Valcen secure bag when traveling through Portugal and Europe? Thank you in advance.
ОтветитьWe've been there last September 3 2023 with my family yeah the beauty of the city of Lisbon is beyond my imagination and also in Fatima Portugal a very peaceful place on earth i visited.
ОтветитьGreat work Dave ! So much is packed in this short video. Mario is superb.
ОтветитьSeriously, i mean seriously, one of the best vlogs i have seen. Thankyou so much. ...peace from Islamabad.
ОтветитьThere is nothing I can recommend more than Mario's TukTuk ride. It was a fantastic experience and we were deeply immersed in Lisbon's history. The exchange with his colleagues during the journey was great to see and I'm sure many other drivers were wonderful too. But Mario will always remain a part of our experienced Lisbon and we'll be back.❤
ОтветитьWonderful video 👏
ОтветитьJust returned from Portugal very nice trip. Several tours especially the Naky’s Tour. First place of organized slavery. Very interesting place.
ОтветитьHi there! Please, I need Mario's phone number . I need a tuktuk ride!!
ОтветитьDave you make great content
ОтветитьThank you for the video, Dave, I just came back from a 7 night-stay at Lisbon, and I found it such a beautiful city. A colourful organised chaos. Your description says it all. Gentle, melancholic and very friendly people, a lot of climbing up the narrow streets of Bairro Alto, where good food and cafes are plentiful. The dishes with bacalao and the pasteis de Nata are definitely my favourite!
ОтветитьEverything you need to know:
Don't come to live here, you're just gentrifying our damn capital, there are tons of places outside of the capital for you to visit, go there. You're making our life hell
Great video! And mainly due to your reaching out to Mario and being able to get a local perspective … thank you so much!
ОтветитьI thought Mario from Russia :) his accent sounds like russian)
ОтветитьAnd if some old guy doesn’t stand up at his table and start singing along then you’re not at the right Fado place. 😂
Ответитьwould love to know how to find mario, see no link
ОтветитьOne of my favorite things to do in Paris is the sidecar motorcycle tour. This tuk tuk ride reminded me of it. You see so much at street level. Thanks for sharing your journey.
ОтветитьI am going there tomorrow. Man, thank you for the beautiful video, and Mario too! Wish to meet someone like him in Lisbona.
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful description of our city and our history, thank Dave, obrigado Mário.
ОтветитьMy father.
ОтветитьA lot of interesting information but some aren't clear, e.g. where to take Tram#28 to avoid crowds.
ОтветитьLeave it better than you found it, so true!
ОтветитьBeautiful vlog but where is Fernando Pessoa?? One of the greatest poets in the world ❤😮
ОтветитьPlanning to visit Portugal for the first time with my husband on Nov 21-Dec 5th, I know is kind of rainy season and trying to see where we can go visit those days that might have a good weather… any suggestions greatly appreciated, we will be renting a car as well.
ОтветитьYour videos are really good and it is nice to see different suggestions about this amazing city. 😊
ОтветитьDear David, this video is awesome. We can only thank you from the bottom of our hearts. All the things you pointed out are very relevant, you are now one of us now. Just two little things:
1) the exodus in Lisboa started many years ago, tourism, speculation and Airbnb like companies "just" accelerated it.
2) you can (and, in fact, you should) applaud fado. In the Coimbra´s tradition (the Balada de Coimbra, or Fado de Coimbra) you don't applaud, but Fado is a Canção de Lisboa (Lisboa's song), and we always applaud it. We don't clap hands during a song, though, unless the singer leads you to it, sometimes when singing a popular march, or Marcha Popular (also a Lisboa's Tradition)
Thank you for all your work, all your videos, all your love for Portugal
Great work Dave.
ОтветитьMy city! I was born in Lisbon!
ОтветитьMy Portuguese husband and I just returned from Portugal two weeks ago. I miss it terribly. I absolutely loved the history, culture, food, hospitality. It is a beautiful country with so much to do and see. Respect is so important when you visit another country. Soak in their way of living and you may find you fall in love with it as well.
Mario is a beautiful soul! Thank you for this video it was done soo well Dave.
Well this made me choke up, wet cheeks and all. Heading there next week and will look for Mario. Lovely video!!
ОтветитьYour content addressed a lot of "Whys, Whens, Whats and Why Nots "... One of the best videos about Lisbon for tourists. Very well done.
ОтветитьThis was a really beautifully produced video. Well done! I love the inserts of history and Mario's story of the revolution was captivating. Oh how I wish the same thing in America could happen, flowers in the guns of all the soldiers... I like how he mentioned how important history is and I totally agree. I also really appreciated the discussion on the increasing wealth gap and how that impacted him. It is a truly global problem. I feel it severely here in Maryland as I know many people do especially my generation and younger. As an Arab-American, I appreciate the mention of the tiles and arabesque designs and as I am also an artist, I really loved the introduction about the street art. well done. I'm thinking of visiting with my daughter for a few months as I go through a life changing event. Do you think it is safe to visit for my a young girl and her Mother?
ОтветитьI’m with Super Mario! I still can still hear that militar anthem from 1974 when I was 9 years old! Thanks Dave for the way you’re sharing and portraying the beauty of our capital and country! Cheers 🍻
