NOTE: To all the people who say they can't see anything after turning on "volumetric fog"...The "view distance" in the Exponential Height Fog has to be set high enough or else your fog will not show until the camera gets close to the emitter.

ОтветитьI know this tutorial is a bit old, and I'm currently using Unreal Engine 5, it works but the extinction parameter does nothing, I'm not sure I think it is taking into account the extinction scale of my overall exponential height fog. Is there a fix for this?
ОтветитьI've double and triple checked my material and particle settings to make sure they are the same as yours but my fog keeps flashing in and out.
If I set the lifetime to 0 it stops flashing and becomes really thick, and it stays permanently wherever it goes so I cannot move it or it leaves a trail.
Why is my fog cloud so incredibly thick? Even at .1 extinction is is almost a solid color. Also the hardness setting barely effects the softness of the edges, it mainly just darkens the entire fog.

ОтветитьIf there is ever a fix for it for 4.26 and beyond, please let me know. Leave a reply. My particle system does seem to be working, but it pulses and disappears like its a flashlight turning on and off.

ОтветитьSadly after hours of trying and recreating, the tutorial didn't work, the particle system at the start didn't show even after enabling volumetric fog and altering the settings.
The one time i did get it to work, it broke when i went to the second tutorial and applied it to an object, the fog only showed on the vertices of the object, and after deleting the object and trying to fix the original fog particle system broke again without me even touching it. :(

ОтветитьThat is way too much trouble to go through to have fog in your scene. Fog is such a necessary part of just about every game and video that there should be a fog button and you press it and fog appears in your scene and then you just adjust it. Going through all those steps to create fog is ridiculous.
