Lol the A.I was always BS in this game because the game reads your inputs. Then the arcade owners would crank up the difficulty to make you pump in more coins too which made it a chore. The main way to win without getting good as we see here is A.I manipulation where it responds to an input that leads into a trap but it gets repetitive.

Takes me back to the arcade days hiding from my mother because this was too violent for me lol.
