I adopted a cat from a shelter last year. She had some bites and wounds on her back. After a lot of things that happened, even her running away for no reason, finally after three months she feels comfortable in my house. It's amazing how trauma can hurt a cat so deep. I think they have more complex personalities than we give then credit for.

i’m always surprised to see people can be so scared because of a little animal. But i’m most likely biased because I spent a lot of time with my grandparents as a kid and being surrounded by animals was a normal thing.

I fostered and adopted two cats that were feral. I didn't know if I would be able to help them. But I loved feral cat story time. I used to go in and talk to them softly through their cage. One of my cats took him a while to get him to the level of confidence of my other cats. He knew he was safe, he just always had it in is head that he had to run away and hide. Now he does't do that. Trust and respect and time is what some cats need.

It took me 4 months to rein in my little tabby monster, Lynyrd. One helluva bunch of yum yums later he's on the back of my chair right now where he posts up every day. He sleeps with me every night and he loves belly rubs. He only likes me, but good golly miss Molly does he like me.

I miss the Cat Daddy shows!!... I think going into peoples' homes and meeting the cats AND owners and EXPERIENCING first hand, EXACTLY what us Humans are doing wrong, is the BEST way to teach what to do and NOT to do, when it comes to All Things Feline...
It's not enough to just TELL people how to keep their cats and kittens "Happy and Healthy." Explanations, reading books, or watching videos and cartoons on the subject can only do so much... Not all Cat-Human conflict can he cured by "Treats, Toys and Playtime," although, it's a step in the right direction----> Time spent with your cat!!
By "being there," owners are able to see, hear, and then relate, to some of the same problems they may encounter... Not only identifying the issues, but SEEING how to fix the them, which can be as simple as putting up cat-friendly shelves along a few walls in your living room for them to "stay safe" up high...

My cat doesn’t like a lot of petting, he likes to do head bumps & rub herself against my legs , he likes to take the lead. I always say I need a hug & kiss. He’ll come up to me & put his nose against mine.

My cats are terrified of strangers, but they are absolutely adorable around means my mother. The house have space where they can hide when someone visits, so I don’t think the cat nor showing up for someone she is not used to Is a deal breaker 😅

I feel like a cat magnet, I've seen a few people approach a cat and they just hissed at them but as I approach the cat, they let me pet them, prolly because I smell like a cat?.. I have 11 rescued cats.. maybe that's why 😂

Every cat I've loved has been so called feral. At one point they called me the cat lady cuz I had 20 bowls of food and water lined up on my walk and had every cat within a mile at my door. You know a cat trusts you when they mate on your windowsill and then come in to have the kittens! My landlord unfortunately had a different view of cats he hated them. I caught him setting raccoon traps to catch the cats on his property. I found out from the maintenance guys that he was taking the cats and kittens out to his farm and the throwing them down an unused well and leaving them to starve to death. This guy called himself a Christian what a fucking joke!!

why don't people talk to their cats?! a soft gentle voice can go a long way. angry cats are scared, even confident cats get scared and a soothing voice can help so much. even beyond that, talk to your cat! they evolved into meowing to specifically talk to US! don't let them feel alone, let them hear you and use your voice as home.

I never cease to be surprised that these aggressive cats can be coaxed to eating a treat from their hands. My street rescue (have had him for about 5 months now and he’s around 2 years old) that is pretty chill is just now occasionally taking treats from our hands and getting on furniture with us.

I almost released a cat into the wild, I was gifted two kittens and me being me decided to sell one, sold it to my boy he ended up getting a girl and returning the cat to me, I had no room at this stage cause my circumstances had changed, so I took the cat and left it in the park, but everytime I looked back it looked so confused and lost, she kept meowing and chasing me so I couldn't do it, the cats been living with my brother since then and I'm glad I never released it,

I had a cat that was basically feral from neglect that lived in our open closet for 6 months as I slowly earned his trust. He would back up fangs and claws out. It was crazy. He was like a tiger defending its cub. And over time he finally took a treat from my hand, and then let me touch him. Now he has the run if the place. Inside outside. And he is the sweetest noblest cat. He has an air about him that’s incredible and my gf lives him to death. He comes up for grooming sessions every night and is afraid of nothing. It took nearly a year but it was worth it.

We have two siblings who were born feral but were adopted into our home at about 10 weeks of age. 7 years later they are super sweet and affectionate with us, but still hide in the attic if anyone comes over. It takes a solid year or so of visits before someone is trusted enough for them to show their faces. Not all cats are social. It is what it is, and as long as they aren't hurting anyone, leave them be, they can still be great pets.

I caught a stray kitten at the theater I worked at from under and it took two months to be able to touch him without him shrinking into himself and when he did come out he was an absolute lovable cat

Ok I am trying to rescue 2 feral cats one is a kitten and one cat has only one eye. They will not use a cat box but will use a dog training pad. They are both affectionate but the older cat is still standoffish she does go out side to paddy.

Right now I'm sitting with a feral stray cat that is hurt and the pound isn't helping .So every day I sit with him and he lays down about two feet in front of me .I'm worried but going to keep coming to hang with him until he lets me pet him then He is moving to with me.I named him Neeko.Wish me luck guys🙏

I like these kind of shows. But at the same time, you are dealing with cats. The american show is "amazing", but it is not so difficult to deal with an "angry" cat. You just have to show who's in charge. That is it. Nothing else. I had two stray cats, and one of them have been "domesticated" so it was pretty easy. The other one, is a big male one. And it took me over one year, to get his confidience and now, it is working fine. I am not so interested in them, regarding walking around my house, and the know it. They can for sure play around, and sometimes they dissapear for a couple of days or weeks. But they turn up. Always. They are amazing if you treat them as cats.
