Lisa Gade reviews the 2017 LG Gram 14, so named because it weighs just under 1 kilogram. The Gram is available in 13.3, 14 and 15.6” sizes, with the same 60 Whr battery, Intel 7th gen Kaby Lake 15 Watt Core i5 and i7 CPU options, Intel HD 620 graphics and an M.2 SATA SSD. The Gram Ultrabooks are available with full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS glossy touch and non-touch displays. The 2017 Gram is actually a tiny bit thicker and heavier than the 2016 model to allow for a much higher capacity battery and the optional touch screen.

The laptop has a white backlit keyboard, Intel 8265AC WiFi, a 720p chin-cam mounted in the hinge, skinny bezels and a USB-C 3.1 port. Most configurations have 8 GB DDR4 single channel RAM with an open RAM slot to upgrade to 16 GB dual channel. The LG Gram competes with the Samsung Notebook 9, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga, 13” MacBook Pro and the Dell XPS 13— it’s lighter than all of them except the Samsung Notebook 9.
