Maybe somebody said it already, but they ARE cherries! With a sort of mustardy-sirup, so it's sweet and spicy. My dad eats it always at Christmas. Can be done also with other fruit. I think is originally from Cremona actually.

FYI the red cherries are actually real fruits cooked in syrup and horseradish, you can find other fruits cooked like that They are called mostarda. They are not jelly horseradish balls. The young generations really don't know much about what they are eating.

Great video! In case someone hasn't already clarified it, the mostarda you had with the gorgonzola was a cherry. They are sort of candied in syrup with a touch of mustard essence.
