Before you get all excited and run out for a 6ghz capable router, realize one Important thing. The 6ghz range is bad. Really bad and the legal transmit power limits are lower for 6ghz. I didn't believe this of course, so I got big expensive router and I ended up disabling the 6ghz channel because it barely transmits to the other side of my apartment. You are better off picking an unused 5ghz channel unless you are always going to be in the same room as the router, IMHO

I don't notice a difference between 6 and 6E at all. On a speed test 6e consistently comes in slower than my wifi 6, even right next to the router

5Ghz is hardly congested anyway. But the speed is nice.

The term Wifi6 it is honestly a consumer rip off and should never have been used! It has the same exact Wi-Fi bands as Wi-Fi 5. Wifi 6 is 6E ONLY, not 6.

I just went out and got an M2 MacBook Pro because it supported WiFi 6E, I worked with it for 1 week to see if there was any difference over my M1 MacBook Pro both connecting to my Xfinity XB8 which claims to support 6E. There was NO DIFFERENCE. WHAT DID I DO WRONG?

Why did you title this wifi 6 vs 6E when you didn't discuss the differences between them? You should have named it wifi 6/6E vs wifi 5. I learned nothing in this video about why 6E is better than 6

I know i only have 50mbps internet, but i am really looking forward to getting this wifi 6e router. I need it badly for network file transfer and local game streaming from PC to other devices(TV phone etc...)

I was just fine with WiFi ac/5. But I had to upgrade to mu-mimo WiFi 6 because my previous router was super cheap and it only had 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports. I needed gigabit. I won't need to upgrade my WiFi until Wi-Fi 7 or 8 become more common.

Hi ThioJoe, great explanations on channel and width. I have a question though. For each 20Mhz width, is there a fixed maximum throughput that it can carry?

Also when it comes to MIMO e.g. 2x2, is it 1 spatial stream per 20Mhz (I'm putting some random throughput here say 100Mbps); so in this case a 2x2 MIMO allow me a theoretical 200Mbps throughput?

Just curious how many soc cores need to achive that 4x3,5 Gbps speed, or it ll be just marketing like the mid range routers where u ll get max 4-500 Mbps with 2 devices and a completly nuked wired section since all cores ll be at 100% load...

ThioJoe, I wonder if you could speak to newer 6/6E Routers 802.11AX protocols controlling and using combinations of all 2 or 3 frequencies 2.4, 5 and 6Ghz, users logon to one network name, as opposed to choosing a specific frequency logons.
