Consumers don't beg the government to license the producers of goods and services. It is the union workers who beg for the licenses. Oh, but only aristocrat, elitist bureaucrats grant licenses. So union workers are begging for their subservience; they are begging for slavery to their masters and overseers in the land of the free and home of the brave. How diabolically immoral is that?

Yes, The Davis-Bacon Act was imposed by politicians and effected and facilitated the looting of the taxpayers and consumers. Davis-Bacon was and is an act of violence as it has effected the robbery of Amerikans for the benefit of a few Amerikans.

"The government consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can't get and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time is made good by looting A to satisfy B. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods." ~ H. L. Mencken

So We The People are looted of our freedoms and made abject stinkin’ naggar slaves on the plantation state!

When people vote for politicians to impose “laws” that loot A (enforcement provisions), they have voted to deprive you of your freedom if you happen to disagree. Welcome to “lootocracy Amerika.” Are you proud you defended the criminal politicians? Are you pleased to have sanctioned force in the form of the IRS? Are you pleased you have sanctioned “laws” that operate to convert you and your friends and family to the status of slave?

Hospitals charge enormous rates. The Insurance Companies gladly pays the extreme rates, while raising our premiums. Now as that process continues, the possibility of paying medical costs out of pocket is impossible, SO the Healthcare Industry forces everyone to have insurance. Pretty ingenious Right" So the medical industry and they insurance companies are making out like thieves.

The Great Depression was the result of not having sufficient aggregate demand. The reason why it didn't have sufficient aggregate demand was because people don't have the money to spend. There ought to be some kind of floor to maintain aggregate demand so we don't all implode and die.

Its too bad that, as Friedman says, policies, or prescriptions for the proven theories he mentions will never truly get enacted because on their face, they seem to the average Joe prejudiced/mean/rich favoring/etc, (fill in the blank)…. People today have been brainwashed into Keynsian and Statist economics.. Its counter intuitive to think that if I lower taxes, I get more revenue in the governments coffers (see; the Laffer curve). It seems counter intuitive that if I raise the minimum wage, I get less wages due to lost job opportunities. So, to my first point, it would take a minor miracle to convince the average voter to vote for a purely free market approach politician to enact pure free market policy. Besides, the politicians today are invested in the publics ignorance as they profit and pad their voter rolls from grandstanding these counter intuitive issues, i.e., Republicans want to abolish Social Security and take away your grandmothers health insurance, etc, etc. Having the NEA and government teaching and indoctrinating our kids certainly isn't helping either! That is the biggest government monopoly going and where the least amount of freedom is; our education system. But I made my point... boy I sure do miss this guy!

Economic outcomes are akin to poker? Income inequality is because of education and age? Technological advancements (he attributes to the rich, actually developed publicly) benefit only the poor?
This is not one of Friedman's best speeches.

What's wrong in children having privileges? Why some children should have the same opportunities if their parents are neglecting them while other parents are making sacrifices to provide those very opportunities for their children?
If you give same opportunities to all children then you'll do a very unjust things to those parents who work hard to make sure their children will be a step ahead in regards to other children.

I remember that my grandma for my birth bought for me some Government bonds to give me some money for when I would be grown up. After 25 years they worth more as junk vintage old relics than the money they used to work when my granny bought them. So again Friedman is absolutely on the spot when he says that inflation is a hidden tax.

What a thoughtful and insightful genius. We are all poorer for not having a “Milton Friedman” in our current political discourse. But then again he would be shouted down and called racist, sexist, and homophobic. But that is only because the Left could not challenge his ideas with rational thinking as they have resorted to a 100% emotional argument for every issue.

My daughter is a recent College Grad... She was very liberal when she went to college and would often come home and argue with me, a "no college grad" about political issues. I listened to her side, I always do, I slowly took it apart piece by piece and rebuilt it on her theory and showed and couldn't find any real world examples anywhere... she would say "Dad, here's one, how come when a woman goes to the Doctor with stomach pain... "ahhh its just her period" she said the Dr. would say and she would just have to live with it. But, if a boy or man went with stomach pain, they would run test after test and prescribe pain medicine and try to solve the problem... she said say "Dad, this isn't fair how do you equalize that?"
I said are you telling me this isn't fair? She would say yes. I said... "Scarlet, it's simple you simply get another Doctor and get another opinion until you find one that takes your problem seriously...you're not REQUIRED to use any Doctor... now maybe in China, North Korea or Russia, you might be right.. but here.... in the United State, you're "free to choose" what medical care you need to fix the problem... YOu are not required to use the medical doctor that gives you what you perceive is bad advice. It seems, my college student daughter who is very bright and at one of the best schools in my state doesn't have a qualified professor that teaches her how to "think critically" ... this is sad when a non educated man (me) can teach her more in a 5-minute conversation than she gets in 4-years of college because YOU professors out there either don;t care or know this yourselves. Please add a little critical thinking to your course work if you're in college. If your college professors talk more about rights than actual real world thinking... Choose another college.
