I used to think mecha sonic was a fanmade thing

I like the way mecha sonic gets rid of robotnik first so he can deal with knuckles awesome game

the first mecha sonic battle was so much harder (sonic 2), not because of no rings but because you couldnt jump on him directly, or spindash into him. you had to spindash and jump right before contact to hit his chest. i wish this fight was harder, and just more recognized

Still my favorite Sonic Boss Theme.

The only metal sonix to harnest the energy of the chaos emeralds into its own unique super form. Best part about it, is that eggman didnt program it to do that. Its AI is so complex it can adapt to any situation

I won't lie...when I first saw this fight as a kid...I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head. I played the game first as Sonic (obviously) and Mecha Sonic wasn't the final boss. I thought it would be the same with Knuckles. And when he suddenly rushed towards the main emerald... I was like "wait what? You're not done yet?" And then he gets in super power form...and I was like "wait what? he can do that?" No other game on the Sega gave me such a shocking and unexpected feeling, followed by such a satisfying fight.

I feel like not enough people talk about this moment. This was 1994. Super forms were introduced one game ago, and now they're being used against you by a mechanical double of Sonic in a last ditch effort to take you out. And as the cherry on top, he's using the very gem that you've been using all game to transform. You have only 3 rings and have to end the last remnants of Robotnik's rule as the guardian of the island.

This should be one of the most badass yet terrifying boss fights in all of gaming, but whenever people talk about it it's either "Huh. Yeah, that was neat." or its screaming about SMBZ. Don't get me wrong, SMBZ is awesome but it feels people never stop and appreciate how badass yet unique this moment is, especially for it's time.

You mean to tell me I collected all the emeralds just to not use them in the final battle?

Man the main series version of Mecha Sonic is complete joke compared to how he's portrayed in Super Mario Bros Z

Guys haven't you noticed when the Eggmobile boss, Sonic and tails are not able to push it ? We only can destroy it... maybe not really, after all it keeps reappear everytime.
But Knuckles is the only one able to push away the Eggmobile, from the cutscenes after the first Boss of act 2 of Launch Base.

i died like 6 times trying to understand how to survive to actually get hits in on phase 2

I dont know why after 28 years later im just now realizing that the mecha sonic fight takes place at the alter of the master emerald but its not even any where on angel island. In the adventure games it is connected to angel island and hidden palace zone is technically apart of angel island so how the hell is angel island floating without the master emerald and its alter connected in this boss battle lol. Kinda confusing. Cuz when the master emerald is distroyed from adventure one the island crashes into the sea, so techically shouldnt the same happen here if the master emerald and its alter is disconnected from angel island lmfao.

This battle for me confirms that this is indeed the place that the "doomsday" song is written for and Sonic just happened to borrow this piece of music for his showdown with Eggman.

I mean just listen how every time mecha Sonic goes on top of the master emerald and how nicely that "powering up" phase of the song fits into what mecha is doing.

If this was a modern game, then i would think that this is just something they programmed the music to do according to what mecha is doing.

I know that the original is the best based on popularity, but I would consider Mecha Sonic as the Best Version of Metal Sonic, because he is the ONLY Version of Metal Sonic who has used the Master Emerald in the Entire Series
