Is there a way to use a more secure master password than a 6-digit number to secure the browser extension?

there are many models to developing something. one is waterfall and another is agile . so putting out a product without having everything all other competitors have is not the first time happening with proton. was google like this at early days? i think you was not fair there. also doing something fast and the risk of nonsecure apppications go together, so many examples 😊

Proton Suite is great. Seriously, Proton should make a desktop, Mac, iOS, Android, and Debian version of their app because web apps and extentions are a huge setback for productivity.

worst. review. ever.

I've been using it since day one immediately switched from bitwarden to Proton Pass, and was able to import all my credit cards, notes, passwords, IDs, there wasn't anything I was using bitwarden for that I couldn't use with proton pass on pretty much day one. And wtf do you mean, we don't know if we're getting any of it with proton, they are one of the few, reliable, trustworthy, privacy/security companies around, that deliver a fully-fledged entire suite of services to decouple from big tech and protect and up your privacy and anonymity game. From very nice VPB services where I get some 95 + percent of my gigabyte connection unless I'm using their built in tor nodes, or secure core features, I don't think any others even offer those two game changers for a VPN service, their mail client allowed me to migrate from gmail and not have a single hiccup nor miss a single feature, same with drive for cloud storage, and the calendar app. My only complaint would be the lack of standalone desktop apps for many of these services, as well as slow Linux adoption but it does come. What on Earth have you been using and calling it Proton I guess is my most pressing question!

Thanks for a highly informative review :-) My question on Proton Pass is a generic one with all password managers: What if a compromise/weakness is found in a password manager? Wouldn't all my passwords be exposed? Wouldn't the use of a password manager thus amount to throwing all my eggs in one basket? It is really encouraging that it is open source and must obey Swiss privacy and all, but in the long run, all software will eventually get exposed. Any comments please?

I think I will stick with S.E.S.. When I watched the Proton video on it I was okay until I felt the way you spoke of.
I like the SES on my phone which I back up every week just in case I forgot that I entered new PW info.
Excellent video.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe. ( y'all can mean one person or many )

I would be glad to see if you could review Locker Password Manager or include it in your next comparison. I do believe that currently it is one of the top Password Managers out there. Maybe the only one for now supporting Passkeys login and also offering Private Emails (similar to Proton Passes Simple Login feature), so you don't need to use and reveal your real email address when registering on a new site.

I think that Proton are taking the wrong stance on Passkeys. Proton Pass should support passkeys both as client and to login.

I am using Bitwarden as a seperate Password Manager for the Proton and other more Secure accounts. Proton Pass was the only missing part of the Puzzle and now the entire Suite is the greatest offering for anyone who wants to secure their Digital Life. There's nothing like Proton out there.

Proton Drive is not really meant as a Regular Storage for Day to Day stuff. It is only meant for the things that you want to secure like legal docs and identity proofs. I am using iDrive for storage needs and using a seperate storage service should be the way.

I just to proton switched from lastpass. Lastpass is my only comparison, but I've used it since 2008 or so. I chose proton becase I already use some of their other products like mail. I think it's already improved since this video, with more improvements on the way. They just added credit cards. The functionality I like compared to lastpass is integrated 2FA and email aliases, which allows you to not give your real email address out if you want.

I had high hopes for this as I enjoy their platform however this service just fell short. Between this and the Proton Drive being all but unusable do to extremely slow upload and download speeds. I’m losing faith

I'm baffled by the transition from the old saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" to the current approach of trusting everything to Proton. While they emphasize privacy, I believe it would be wiser for them to distribute costs among individual services and provide a bundled option. My skepticism about Proton grew when they acquired SimpleLogin. Personally, I disagree with their current direction, and I prefer not to use any of their services.

Proton pass is useless, i had it on my premium account, set it all up and once i downgraded to the free account Proton pass locked me out of my 2fa accounts?? Now i cant even log into my Proton account to upgrade. Stick with Bitwarden or 1Password

Compared to other password managers, Proton Pass stands out when viewed as part of the Proton Family.
It's really about Privacy and Pass (and Email Aliases) is a bonus.
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts".
BTW: If you're not using Email Aliases... you should give it a try, highly recommended !!!

Privacy.: Not being a Giggle Product.

Pretty much only complaint so far is no credit card entries. Otherwise I feel it's similar to bitwarden. The reason I'm using it is that I already have a full Proton subscription. I also like the email alias feature

Also, i think they released it half baked because of the hack and they wanted to get that migrating audience immediately

I just pay for Proton Mail, and over the weekend I found out that I am not eligible for Proton Pass Plus because Proton doesn't allow bundling subscriptions. That means I have to upgrade to Proton Unlimited just to have access to Proton Pass Plus. Not gonna happen. The Proton suite is sub par.

Too many missing features. No family accounts, no sharing, no desktop app, no web app, no passkeys, no 2fa scanner, no copying items, no custom fields, no item history. They shouldn't have released it at this stage. I doubt they will enable all these features any time soon, if ever. 1password has all these features and with the family account, it's about the same price as Proton Pass per person.

The price for Proton Pass is low but only until end of July. Why would anyone buy it at the regular price?

1password is closed-source but it wouldn't be used by major corporations if it wasn't properly audited.

One draw back of proton suite is "putting all your eggs in one basket", a single point of failure. I wonder how reslient they are incase of breach? Are all their services E2EE?

I'm surprised proton pass is production release. On Android and the web it is still buggy at filling in usernames in sites and apps bitwarden had no problem with. This would be more acceptable if there were a right click context menu on desktop browsers like bitwarden has.

Despite the bugs, as an existing proton user, I've still moved over from bitwarden and anonaddy to proton pass and simple login just to have less to pay for and manage. But I agree, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone not already in or considering the proton ecosystem. There is better competition out there.

Praying Proton for being "private" when it's closed source it is a clear statement that Proton's money sent to you are more important then the actual facts or truth.
