So dumb when you hear people talk about evolution in reference to everything. Did we start out permanently asleep and that helped us wake or did we evolve to sleep, mother nature also paralyzed us during dream sleep! That crazy mother nature! 😑 Gimme a break and just acknowledge a higher power.

There are certain nights - usually once every one to two weeks, when I get NO SLEEP whatever. I then attempt to make up for the losses, which usually seems to be successful a day or two later. Are there any procedures or supplements that I can initiate to subdue the disadvantages?

6 hours sleep is the asnwer?
Why did Albert Einstein sleep 10 hours everyday?
He lived long age. And everybody know what he did.

I have great admiration for Andrew, although I must point out that he displayed a tendency to interrupt his guest prematurely during the ongoing segment of the video that I am presently viewing. It is possible that his enthusiasm or strong engagement with this topic led to his actions... Hopefully 😂

drink caffeine only 10hours before sleep, not after that

I am absolutely impressed with and wish my son to emulate Matthew Walker. The man is extremely articulate, controlled and eloquent. His thoughts just flows flawlessly and smoothly like water in a river. I wonder how he trained himself to think and articulate his thoughts like that. It's impressive to me because I have problems with words and struggles with my ability to communicate and this man is amazing.

All of these sleep podcasts stress sleep quality. But that is never defined… how much deep and REM should we be striving for, Dr Huberman? I’m assuming it should be a percentage of sleep total rather than a specific duration, considering ideal total duration is 7-9 hours.

I wonder if that signal that goes down the brain stem is associated with that sensation of falling you may have when falling asleep. Sometimes the sensation jolts people awake.

Hi Andrew,

I have a 48 hour Circadian Rhythm (38 hours awake, 10 hours sleep) because of a sleep-related stressful event 30 years ago. It reduced my sleep pressure (my ability to become tired) by quite a bit.

Atarax (hydroxyzine) helps to sleep considerably better, but it causes tolerance and the effectiveness reduces in a few days.

ChatGPT thought that anxiousness may be the underlying cause. I don't feel anxious but it still insisted it could be the reason. I believe that.

I wonder what solutions there could be to this condition?

Thank you!

One thing that wasn’t covered was how detrimental is it to get between 6 and 7 hours. I feel like I can’t possibly do more than 6.5 but I fall asleep almost instantly, and stay asleep and sleep well. I’m wondering if I need to force 7?

Dr. Huberman, I thought that you said before (I think on Bialik Breakdown) that sunlight through a car window or home window is not sufficient at all, for this great SUNlight exposure, due to the layers of filters that these windows have on them, that block portions of the light. However, in this video, you both are speaking like light through windows IS sufficient. I would appreciate clarification. Thank you!

There is NO such thing called sustainable meat. A whole food plant-based diet is backed up peer peer-reviewed evidence. Eating meat even once a day is harmful. Huberman is wrong about diet.

“When we have those thoughts at night, it comes with a magnitude of rumination and catastrophisation, that is disproportionate to that which you would describe when you are awake”

That end quote by Matthew really resonated with me.
