Know & understand in Chinese认识vs知道,懂vs明白,了解vs理解 Learn Chinese Vocabulary HSK

The Chinese distinction in kinds of knowledge would have pleased the ancient Greeks (such as Plato). This is the branch of philosophy called epistemology.

Stuff like this is why i love languages. For a Portuguese the 认识 vs 知道 is elementary. It's "conheçer" vs "saber". Completely different, but in english they're the same so it's more difficult for them. The more languages you know the easier it is to learn new ones becuase of concepts like these😁

Because the dictionaries don't include the nuanced differences between words with similar meanings, these videos that compare words are so very helpful. Thank you!

1) 我认识这个汉字可是我不知道什么写
Znam/Rozpoznaję ten znak hanzi, ale nie wiem jak go napisać.
2) 我认识那个男的。他是马克的朋友。可是我不知道他的名字
Znam tego mężczyznę. To kolega Marka. Ale nie znam jego imienia.
3) 我知道孔子，可是我不认识他
Wiem kim jest Konfucjusz, ale nie znam go (osobiście)

What is the danshi & keshi?

In Indonesia " renshi" = mengenal ( know and have a deep relatioship), but "zhidao" = tahu ( know but just get to know without having to meet each other before, eg.we know many actress n actors but never make a relationship with them, or know many presidents in this world but they never know us).

The English use bad grammar to say CONFUCIUS HE SAY or CONFUCIUS HIM SAY, usually with a ridiculous or playful addition - however, he also said 100 women are not worth one testicle, which I politely ask acquaintances to discuss with anarchic consequences.
