Dragon Ball was always s*it... And NO it wasnt the only thing we had.

We had Slayers and Reena and Gaudy had more charisma in one finger than Goku had in his whole body.

Fr all over the internet people are like "Goku solos" and like to pretend that DB is a really really good anime. I grew up with DB and watched all of it as well, but I can acknowledge that it's genuinely not that amazing. And just because a character is strong doesn't mean the anime is better because of that. Although it is funny to see someone try to pretend Goku can beat characters like Madoka or Sailor Moon and see how they struggle to justify it lol

AOT is overrated as hell, I will still choose dragon Ball over AOT anyday of the week💀

The early episodes of Dragonball were the best. No dumb power scaling. Interesting protagonist and world.
It didn't have to take itself too seriously because it was more of a comedy than an action show.

My friend was watching dragon ball sincs he was five. That was the only anime he ever watched. His cousen told him to watch aot. With my help he actually watched it, and he loved it, he realised how overrated DB is and became an anime fab. Rn he finished aot and is into MHA.

Ngl, As someone who has seen the entirety of DB, DBZ, and the DBS manga, I would describe it as average, not "legendry," its no doubt a good show, but not particularly "amazing" to watch.

DBZ would fail as a pioneer if other shonen didn't surpass it. DBZ is the Model T of Shonen Anime.

Dragonball Z is pretty much the "Michael Bay" of anime. People watching for the explosions and hype, not the writing. And when you are a kid, it's pretty exciting to watch.

I was always a Dragon Ball hater growing up. I preferred Fist of the North Star & Yu Yu Hakusho and thought DBZ was trash. Everyone outside of piccolo was unlikeable

About the predictable plot, Dragon Ball (in general, not just Z) was one of the first popular manga to have the main character lose battles, even if he won them eventually.

Problem is, even if it was subversive for the time, it still gets predictable when completely unmentioned bad guy with unreasonable power shows up, kicks their asses, they train, and then they win every time.
