I would not change the 4runner until the landcruiser and mini landcruiser comes out for a few years, and change it like in 2026, or even up to 2028. If it is selling solidly, why change it? This way you have a couple year for landcruiser to come out, and you can bring 4cylinder and maybe TRD PRO V6 6th generation model at a later date. 2026 Emissions standards will force 4cylinder models, I would delay this and keep selling this model until it slows down. Long live the fifth gen v6 model. I think the New 4runner should be HIGHE TRIM than the current landcruiser 250, and it should directly go against the Big bronco and Wrangler. This is how I would market the next 4runner. Bring two engines, 4cylinder, 4cylinder hybrid and V6 TRDPRO 6th Generation.

It’s a reliable car, it’s just unfortunate that the scrupulous dealers are marking them up $10k in addition to dealer add ons.

Definitely one of the most reliable truck but I refuse to buy one to date. 13 year old technology at a premium no thanks.

Love my 2015 SR5, 114,000 miles, 1 battery, spark plugs changed, can't ask for a better truck. Reliable , comfortable, safe. Will hold to it until new changes comes up.

Just buy a used 5th gen and upgrade the radio, shocks, and tires. Now you have a 2024 for half the price. 😂😂

What's new in 2024 other than the colors?!? Toyota added at least one tiny or not so tiny new feature every year. I'm disapointed this year might offer absolutely nothing new.

Toyota moving forward I think not with this model. I was expecting a turbo charged model with the I force engine like Tacoma and Tundra. Five speed is dinosaur ⚙️ gearing ⚙️ too bad it could have been a contender now it's a foregonner. 😅😅😅

How come Toyota never put the 6 speed transmission and the 3.5 L V6 that’s found in the Tacoma into the 4Runner? I feel like it would improve the fuel economy.

Seriously, they didn't change the drivetrain? Come on Toyota, this is a great vehicle, give it a motor with some power and a transmission with more than 5 gears. 270hp is pathetic...no really, it's embarrassingly pathetic. The vehicle is so slow to accelerate it can't get out of its own way. Looks like they did very very little to upgrade anything. Electronic transfer case seems to be about the jist of it, and the fact is, most people prefer the stick-shift type. We were really hoping to see some serious upgrades this year, but looks like the same old 4R we've known since what, 2013?

For all of those wanting a new 4Runner, please read this: All new models need to adapt to current emissions standards which makes their engines less reliable given their small blocks and turbo charged nature, on top of that very complex transmissions with 10 speeds to keep the “efficiency” high. At the end of the day new vehicles are significantly less reliable and much more complex to repair, higher purchase/maintenance/repair prices plus lower durability makes any update to this 4Runner a step back.

Looking at the spec sheet there is absolutely no difference from the 2023 and the 2024 (at least for the TRD PRO)… that’s disappointing 😕 basically just paying an additional $300 for an exterior color you may not even want/get…

This is just too long for an upgrade. Waiting too long, might just buy a Suby which for 90% of the time outperforms the Runner. I love the 4Runner but its antiquated.

4Runner has only one annoying problem. It's not available in Europe.

Meh….outdated tech, features, HP and transmission for a premium price?? No thanks. The average daily driver doesn’t do off road. And that dated 4.0 liter engine will only get 16 MPG for everyday use. OUCH! I realize Toyota’s marketing department enjoys showing clips of the 4Runner scaling uneven terrain in remote locations but it’s just not reality for most. Kudos to Toyota for milking every penny they can out of this outdated guzzler. But there’s much better SUV’s out there with better price to value.
