I've spent the better half of this week (my days off) researching what headset to save up for. Despite this review's negative take, I still think this is the way to go. I have the original Vive and its finally on its last legs. It still kinda works, but after 6 years (i think), the controller is finicky with squeaky trigger buttons and desyncing in the VR space floating away from me into the void, one of the base stations stopped working (so I can only face one corner of my room), and the plastic on the headset itself is peeling leaving me with black flakes in my hair after I take it off.
The Vive Pro 2 will probably be a very similar set-up. I already have a base station stand to hold the new ones. Its backwards compatible with the Index controllers which seem to be the unanimously agreed upon best VR controllers. It has the best resolution for its price-point which is a huge win for me, since I spend a lot of time watching videos in the bigscreen software. Audio isn't an issue since I just use my more than decent headphones anyways. And same goes for the microphone, my headset has a great mic too. This seems like a win-win for me. The only downside I see here is the glare, which is already something I deal with using my old headset, so I'm already desensitized to the issue.
The reason I don't go for the Index is because I've seen many videos of people complaining about the longevity of the index. Most reviews state that the device has less than a year of heavy use. And while I don't have the free time for heavy use, I don't want to have major issues in 2~3 years. My OG Vive stood the test of time and no negative reviews have complained about the how long the Pro 2 will last. And even if the Index controllers brake on me semi quickly, $300 is an easier fix than a $500 one. Also it seems even if Valve introduces a new headset all their headsets are compatible with newer releases, so if they discontinue the Index I can buy their new controllers instead. Pretty sure in my scenario this is the best possible VR build for me. And with an RTX 3080 GPU and a 13 gen i9 CPU I don't think my specs are going to be challenged by the upgrade either.
This is a great ass review and I love your overall way of showing stuff off
ОтветитьI really wish valve would release an index 2 with similar resolution to this headset
ОтветитьMate,i am waiting my pro2 tomorrow and yt just threw this as a suggestion.😢
At least i got it for 500 and not the full price so it was 1-1 with index price which is almost always out of stock to buy standalone.
i bought it now on sale for $1100, originally it was $1650 in the shop , would have loved index but not available in my country
ОтветитьSeems like it’s only you who have a mic problem since my mic works great when did you get the headset?
Ответитьvive pro 2 was quiet disappointed the controller doesnt let me turn the way i want especially in vrchat
ОтветитьI don't know, man. I just got one the other day. I know it's two years later, but they must have updated it had done something because it's a great headset. Headphones rock the visuals are better than my HP reverb G2V2. I mean, I don't know time's a changing.
Ответитьbest anyway
ОтветитьBest pc vr headset for me because valve index isnt in aus and its very expensive on amazon.
Ответитьyoooooo if ya have a spare headset, wanna hit a brother up? 😃
ОтветитьVery funny 😂
ОтветитьMeta Quest 2 is the best vr headset
ОтветитьVive PRO 2 sucks more than vr smart phone
ОтветитьBro's saying valve is the best headset for shitty hardware and stupid pricing for just a 1440 resolution, crappy bay stations that cost 200 bucks and the knuckles controllers which hand tracking is pretty cool but Jesus it broke on me in 2 weeks like literally
Ответить"is kinda sucks" best English ever
ОтветитьExcellent review 👌. If only they'd given you the alpha or beta version of it, they coulda fixed all these issues up before the final release.
Ответитьhaving used the original quest, or quest gen 1, or whatever it goes by now for the quest link....the vive pro 2 is on my list of, what to upgrade too besides the whole, i know index is pretty much everyones go too and/or recommended to be the best option, and which, it does seem the index seems like the better choice to use overall now that you did a pretty good review
as a side note, having a large head kind of does make the quest suck using a bit so kind of wanting to skip over the quest 2 cause of it
rip vr
ОтветитьI felt like I just watched a political review video
ОтветитьI only picked up the Vive Pro 2 the other day and being the first entry to VR I can't say I can complain but then again I haven't seen much apart from trying out a Rift S for a few hours years ago. Getting Index controllers in a couple days and feel like that's a good combo since I can't really get used to the 2018 Vive controllers.
ОтветитьWhat's the highest quality vr headset? I'm new thanks
ОтветитьIt’s $2000 dollars here in australia
ОтветитьHi
ОтветитьWhat headset do you prefer?
ОтветитьWhat world was he in
Ответитьwoah you got 800,000!
Ответитьthis is not funny. stupid, lame, borring
ОтветитьJESUS FUCKING CHRIST. I thought you were exaggerating when you said the mic was bad, but I guess not! What kind of 2013 xbox COD lobby mic is that?
Just tested the mic on my $30 wired headset, and even it's better than that pos.
Hi just wanted to ask what headset you use the most for VRchat, I’m planing on getting another headset for full body tracking cuz right now I have the Oculus quest 2 which of course ain’t good for body tracking.
ОтветитьMan I don't even have a gaming pc, WHY ISNT IT WIRELESS😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
ОтветитьYeah it probably gets sweaty when you're doing fucking gymnastics in a big ass bulky headset
ОтветитьHow does this have barely any views
ОтветитьI went Oculus SDK1, PSVR to Index. My Index has been the best investment ive ever made. However i do want a wireless option. Common Valve im waiting
ОтветитьI feel like the strap is loose. Maybe i’ll give it another chance.
Ответитьanswer pls,
do you recomend valve index for vrc pole dancers? (like you for example)
and does they work with wireless thing?
And another thing, i have the modmic wireless mic with the normal vive, it was the better mic i ever had mixing it with voicemeter, but it broke. In your opinion, valve index microphone is better or the same than modmic wireless??? idk if i shoudl buy it again or i will solve everything with index headset
ANSWER YOUR OPINION IS RELEVANT OK?
Great review. It was extremly helpful even though your humor is painful to watch. I think ill go with the index. Thanks my dude.
ОтветитьValve index blows ass. I have it, blurry bs fresno light leaking piece of shit. Rather have the vive with clear lens conversion.
ОтветитьNeed it for the wireless breakdancing.
ОтветитьThis was my first headset i got from christmas i thought seeing the edges was normal until i saw my friends oculus. Man Fuck HTC
ОтветитьGood to know FedEx is equally inept at delivering VR Headsets worldwide. I just BARELY got my Quest 2 out of the hands of FedEx before they all shut down for christmas lmao
Ответитьi wish i had full body xD, u make it see super fun
ОтветитьYo i know I'm kicking an old thread here but I wish HTC dropped those frensel lenses already they didn't work in vive og, didn't work in the pro, didn't work in the index and they still were like hey you know those lenses most of our users have replaced with Samsung gear lenses well let's just use those pieces again. Like seriously is HTC contracted to use those shitty lenses?
ОтветитьHow have you not broke your base station. for like the spinning arms when you broke your controller
ОтветитьGreat Review, great reviewer.
ОтветитьFOV ON THE INDEX ISN'T 130 LMFAOOOOOO
Ответитьis y i stay with the quest cuz of the mic is niiice come one HTC the quest 2 mic is way better then the htc maybe when the mic is better ill give em my money till then ill stick with my quest2
ОтветитьI know im a little late to ask, but i just recently got to try vr for the very first time with the quest 2 and love it, and now im hungry for the true definitive vr experience, im getting a pc very soon, so in your honest opinion what complete vr set would you recommend? Price is not an issue i was thinking about buying the full htc vive pro 2 kit for $1,399 on their website
ОтветитьPlease tell me that there is, or link me to a clip of that Zuckerberg horror bit, had me rolling on the floor
ОтветитьWhy do you sound exactly like Kermit? 😂
Ответить
