Great. I'm not a silversmith, just someone who loves silver jewellery. I have a ring like this inset with semi-precious stones and some of them have fallen out and was wondering how to put them back in. Now I know: Clean surfaces, superglue, and activator. Yay!

If I can jump in as an armchair genius, use a thick clear epoxy, its a lot easier to work with, strong, but takes a little longer to cure.

What gauge of sheet metal do you typically use for inlay rings? Your calipers read .64mm so I'm assuming 22 gauge?

I would be worried that if you use copper as the “filler”it could tarnish easily whereas silver would act in the same way as the ring itself. However the copper would be a beautiful contrast . Any thoughts?
