FTL in 2022. It's special - FTL: Faster Than Light Review 10 Years later

Also not sure if anyone has mentioned Rimworld to you, it's THE indie colony sim.

The darksideof gaming, a gaming pc? Nah, its more like a large city, alot of the buildings are sick, just don't go into any alleys and expect to come out without a disease.

I love FTL but i never play it, i suck at it and find it too stressful, and it is entirely my fault, the game is perfect and i should man up sometime and give it some more love.

FTL is one of my favorite games of all time. I introduced it to my dad, and the way I did it was this:

He was captain, I was first officer, and I did all the controls. I interpreted and relayed the overall game state and gave recommendations, but I also followed his orders. In that way he and I could play the game together without him having to bother himself with the controls, and we got to sort of role play as Picard and Riker.

It remains one of my favorite memories of him. We must have played for 10 hours or so the first time, even though he was hesitant at the start.

I highly encourage those well versed in the mechanics to try this sort of two player dynamic, and get into the role play of it.

I would recommend Shortest Trip to Earth, an upgraded version of FTL in many aspects. For those who love FTL, you should check it out and this game is highly recommended.

There is a game called convoy I believe. it's basically FTL meets mad max where the fights are vehicles trying to avoid obstacles on the road while being shot at by a trike with a rail gun on it it's realy fun

ftl is one of my fav game of all time, played it for more then 500 hour, on 300 attempt on normal i have maybe won the game 20 to 40 time, its really hard, its all about decision making. on long term

It's cool to hear a completely different pov. I love FTL for completely different reasons.

My favorite aspect of the game, which you touch on a bit, is the opportunism. I love finishing the game with some crazy builds.

Some of my favs runs include:
1) Teleport boarding builds which can get extra fun depending on the race. And you can be more aggressive with cloning:
-mantis for killing everything
-rock for especially if the ships on fire
-lanius for targeting their oxygen
-slug and mind control also help
2) different weapons builds
-fire beams when paired with hacking their shields. destroy all crew. pairs well with rock boarding.
-ion to target their oxygen. pairs good with lanius boarding

The more consistent build is probably zoltan/engi crew with hacking/flak/beams but getting the above to work really makes me like this game.

Darkest Dungeon, play it, yell out with joy triumphant, seeth, cry, and anything that is related to despair when you're triumph turns to ruin and failure

I bought this game for $2.50 a few months ago but haven't dived in yet. This review tells me that it might be my next gaming addiction!

I got into the breach on epic for free and I loved the game, and I found out that FTL existed and bought it and started playing. LOVE IT.

The mods for FTL are incredible too, they add more content and variety

I found this game when it came out in 2012, and I have purchased it multiple times. I’ve completed all ships on hard mode twice, and I keep playing. One of the best games of all time.

FTL is fantastic. I returned to it after so many years and couldn't help but be annoyed that it wasn't followed by copycats that would expand on the formula.

FTL is one of those games that I always seem to go back to, like StarCraft: Brood War, or Tetris. So, every once in awhile, I like to check on the state of the game; which is how I came across your video. I just wanted to let you know that I think you have done a stellar job of not only explaining the jist of the game, but also relaying the excitement, frustration, and ultimate joy that it delivers. Anywho, I just wanted to compliment you on a job well done, and I hope that this leads even more gamers (both new and old) to FTL.

While completely different but also very similar in some aspects to FTL is a game called 'BadNorth', it's a beautiful indie title with a great aesthetic and fantastic ambiance. Quite damn hard too.

Its quite good for a low res game. Just wish they would have ported it to the smart phone before they discontinued development.

Personal favourite, wish it got more attention, Try out the modding scene, the Multiverse mod is stupidly great

if youre perhaps still curious on why the steam page says 'rogue-like like', it's because rogue-like (literally just meaning like the game rogue) is the name of the genre, hence ftl is like a rogue-like
