If I wanted to mark files for different steps in a workflow and CI how would to do that? I'm leaning towards tagging.

Nice tip. As you mentioned: This is not for everyone. There were more than a few times when I was happy to use the "Undo last commit" command in VS Code. Auto-push would be in the way in these cases.

I got one more edge case against this that hopefully nobody of you runs into: Consider how good your CI/CD infrastructure is. In one of my projects the team lead came to us and told us not to push so orten, because we created too much work for the local servers (GitLab in that case).

I think in 99% of the time this is great, but I'd be concerned about the 1% where i forgot to commit something or committed something by accident and need to do a git reset, which will create a mess if the change is already pushed to remote?
