What a beautiful beast, the steam whistle gives me goose bumps, I remember that sound as a child...!!

I've been lucky enough to see this engine up close, and the Big Boy as well. This engine is my favorite out of the two. Thanks to UP for keeping our history alive and working.

844 will run and hide from the Big Boy, she's as close to the Wabash Cannonball as we'll ever see

10여년전 미국여행 다닐때 저런 기차.. 기차가 아니라 거의 2-300백량을 달고 다니던 기차
우리 나라로 보면 앞대가리는 서울역 뒷쪽은 거의 양평(?) 수준
그런데 아직도 저러고 살고 있는 미국 촌놈들
저런 기관차 행열을 보면 앞에서 셋 뒤에서 셋
4-50년전 우리나라의 모습^^

C'est bien aussi les trains à gde vitesse, les TGV, etc., mais c'était beau, c'était bien, qd même ces locomotives hurlandes, galopandes, quasi vivantes, quasi humaines ! C'était le feu ! C'était une tt autre façon d'être présent au mde ! Et je me dis que des engins mobiles fantastiques actuels, ce st les fusées qui, assez paradoxalement, s'en rapprochent le plus....
