I’m personally not into anime or maid theme cafe, it’s more “over exposed” than being “overrated”. I don’t mind making reservations and go with someone, just not by myself. I keep in mind with the reservations and the ordering part it will come in handy when I plan on going to Japan one day.

Ha ha ha ha, I related to much to the coffee thing. When I was in Korea, if I didn’t pronounce “raspberry soda” “ra-juh-be-ri so-dah”, the cashier would just stare at me with dead fish eyes and not even try to understand what I was trying to say. Gods it was embarrassing.

Question! Is it disrespectful to bring a sheet of paper with words to order? Like if you’re trying to order and you forget a word you can take out a sheet of paper (like a revision paper) and just read off that? And if you’re struggling to pronounce a word, what do you do?

Just wanna say I watched this video before I left for a month long trip to Japan, tried to commit as much to memory as possible while booking and going to multiple cafe collabs, and wow was this video helpful! I've noticed you are cautious about giving too negative of a review, and here you mention you don't want to be sued for defamation. My understanding is reviews are protected so long as they are opinion and not making direct claims, like X place Will serve you spoiled raw meat vs I didn't like the pasta.

As someone who's taking Japanese classes, I already knew all of those phrases, but my mind will go blank if you tell me to read out loud (I'm more comfortable writing TT_TT). It's amazing that you're used to it
