Watched this on black and white TV when it happened. I still say the most exciting two minutes in sports I ever saw.
ОтветитьI saw him do this....LIVE!!!
ОтветитьThe greatest run in skiing history my hero of all sports
ОтветитьI was just 13 years old when I watched this live... it's still the greatest downhill performance I've ever seen in my life...
ОтветитьI watched this live (in black & white)!! Still one of the most exciting sports calls, ever - and I don't even ski!
ОтветитьMy idol. I remember watching this on ABC when I was 10. I later learned how to ski and have always tried to emulate him. The best downhiller ever, and the most thrilling run in Olympic history. Klammer the King!
ОтветитьI remember watching this live on my college girlfriend's tiny tv in her room as she clutched my hand tighter on every crazy jump Hans made. She was the only Catholic girl in a Jewish sorority - Susan, my Polish Princess.
ОтветитьHöllenritt!!!
ОтветитьI remember watching this live when I was twelve. It was a huge deal for Austria, and huge Olympic moment.
ОтветитьI remember that run like it happened yesterday. Talking about living/ skiing on your edges, Klammer left all caution to the wind
ОтветитьHe was the hometown hero he grew up there so he had to win and he did win.
ОтветитьI was blessed to have watched this as it happened, still my favorite run.
ОтветитьWhen I go to rent skis, poles, and boots, I always ask for the "Franz Klammer Package".
ОтветитьLike he was shot out of a cannon and glued to the mountain. I remember it like it was yesterday.
ОтветитьWhat an athlete Klammer was. Took the risks and still recovered. Greatest skier of all time.
ОтветитьWay to go Franz!
ОтветитьI was watching live as well I love watching the downhill to this day.
ОтветитьThats Franz freakin klammer
ОтветитьDřevorubec byl tenkrát nejlepší a bude tak už napořád
ОтветитьThat’s brilliant!! Because it was kamikaze
ОтветитьEveryone in the universe wanted that run except maybe second
ОтветитьI agree.. saw it live as well, best 2 minutes of willing him through the turns👍
Ответить"If you're in control, you're not going fast enough."
ОтветитьI watched this live on TV in '76. I was 14 and it was the most amazing thing I ever saw. It made me want to be a downhill skier. Later that year I broke my arm skiing. Ironically, I was skiing slowly in sticky snow when I broke it after a few weeks of skiing very fast. Thus ended my downhill career ;-)
ОтветитьWatched this on TV and any kid that ever put skis on wanted to be Franz Klammer. 5 years later, I was able to go on a six day ski trip to Innsbruck. I skied this course and the orange catch fences were still in place. 41 years later it is the greatest thrill watching and listening to this video. Never, ever gets old.
ОтветитьWatched on TV, real time in '76. Still give me knots in the gut.
ОтветитьI was 6 when I watched this with my dad and every time we would go skiing I'd be at the top of the hill yelling I AM FRANZ KLAMMER! Then I would bomb down the hill as fast as I could and crash somewhere near the bottom. Only broke my leg once!
ОтветитьThe Kaizer
ОтветитьCan’t tell if the end celebration is “I won!” or “I survived!”
ОтветитьI watched this live in 1976 and still remember it like it was yesterday
ОтветитьAn interview with Frank Gifford about this coverage reveals that they're not recording their play-by-play live, the event had happened about 6 hours earlier, but for American TV coverage this was how they had to do it. They certainly sound unrehearsed and thrilled at the run. Some good acting. Gifford also said they were drunk when they recorded it.
ОтветитьKaiser Franz 🏆🏆
ОтветитьWOW ! THERE'S THE GUY
WHO WILL GO DOWN IN
History !
More wild than photogenic!
ОтветитьScrew the aero tuck, just fly as far as you can like a ski jumper and use the whole course cornering on one leg.
ОтветитьOag
ОтветитьUnforgettable skier.
ОтветитьI was 9 when this happened, but had never seen it before, until today, 4/6/2022. My step-brother (a skier) kept talking about how great Klammer was, all through the late 1970s. Now I know why.
ОтветитьPhil Church here I watched this on TV and I was 18 and a snow skier .. love it .
ОтветитьIt is amazing when you realize that all they had available to film on back then was, in fact, a potato
ОтветитьFantastic!
ОтветитьGrösster Angeber aller Zeiten. Aber er ist befreundet mit Erzfeind Bernhard Russi. Chapau
ОтветитьFranz running balls out! This guy was amazing. I was a kid, but I remember this
ОтветитьSaw this Live...still the Greatest..
ОтветитьKlammer was/is the best!
ОтветитьIn 80s still some ski like this
ОтветитьSurplus testosterone is very entertaining.
Ответить😀
ОтветитьBringing you a constant variety of sports... the thrill of victory and the agonies of defeat
