Would it be safe to assume that this will make its way to PureRaw?

From what I see there is quite a bit difference.

The color difference might be the expanded color space PL6 operates in? Exporting to dng might remove that variable

I see an small increase in saturation and a slight increase in contrast in 6. Not really seeing an increase in sharpness though. I guess you could call it sharpness if you are so inclined, but not really what I'm seeing at all.

Interesting result, I actually thought it was worse on skin and faces in my limited testing. I’ll have to check again when the next PureRaw version drops. But at the very end when you zoomed in near the base of the neck that was a decent improvement!

I thought that when the magic wand was visible, it was on auto. If you are using MacOS Ventura, you may find that DeepPrime and XD create artefacts (magena and green speckles respectively in near black areas). See the dxo forum for more detail.

Thanks much for your video. I have both photolabs and I must say that in some images the difference is hardly noticeable, however, in other images photolab 6 seems better. Not sure if it is significantly better, but a bit more.

All I have noticed is a slight increase in saturation and contrast. I believe that’s why it seems sharper. .

I guess everyone's eyes are different. 6 has way more detail. Looking at the individual fibers of plumage, it is well defined on 6 whereas on 5 it is blurry. The eyes on 6 are way sharper also. Like I said everyone's eyes are different; each person trains themselves from birth to see the world differently. Some see the world in high detail on an almost microscopic level and others just see the total picture.

Thank you Anthony for this interesting result. One more question, what is the difference between PhotoLab 6 DeepPrime XD and DxO PureRaw 2.2 ? How do they compare ?

Anthony, at around the 7 minutes point you zoom in on the eye on both images and say it is hard to see any significant difference. On my computer I notice a real difference b between the two images, particularly in the eye where the PL6 version is sharper, clearer and more contrasty than the PL5 version. I have PL5 and DxO Pure RAW, however, I am a Nikon Z9 user wishing to use the camera's High Efficiency "Star" RAW file format but, as yet, DxO have made no move to support this. I have been a big advocate of the Pure RAW application for the past couple of years but have now had to stop using it and revert to the Topaz software because of DxO's lack of support for the Nikon RAW files.

Good stuff as ever Anthony! A slight, if somewhat technical. correction to the PL6 DeepPRIME XD working with Fuji Raw files. You are substantially correct, except it specifically refers to Fujufilm cameras with X-Trans sensors (most of the current models), so the GFX camera files will work.
I got myself quite worked up about this when I discovered it after I'd paid for my upgrade from PL5, especially as DxO use a .raf file to demonstrate DP XD quality on the website.
Support for X-Trans files will apparently be provided in an, as yet, unscheduled free update.

Hi Anthony, thank you for all your videos, I am a big fan! Just wanted to let you know in case you didn't, that if you click the little padlock next to compare in Lightroom, both pictures will zoom and move in tandem when you compare them.

It better especially in low complexity part of the image. But it increase my processing time / photo from 28 seconds to more than 1 minute. I also use new wide gamut feature. Unfortunately in the task manager, GPU and CPU usage still low. If only it can make 100% cpu and gpu usage, perhaps it can be back to 28 seconds?

the difference between v5 and v5xd is for me the same difference as between a standard zoom lens and a prime lens - that is worth money to me

I’d like to compare PL5 vs. PL6 for rescuing an underexposed image. I’ve read that XD gives around 1/2 to 1 stop advantage in noise reduction, but I’d like to see that demonstrated.

DxO promotes preprocessing all files with their denoising&demosaicing to improve gradients in shadows, but this just went out the window if the choice of algorithm produces a big change in colour saturation. The sharpness seems to come from messing with the contrast. I expect neutrality in preprocessing. Which is the truer rendition DxO?

....your video revealed to me, a visible, significant advantage in sharpness and definition from using DeepPrime XD over DeepPrime...impressive. (I'm a DxO PhotoLab user myself, but I'm using version 3 and I was trying to find out when "DeepPrime" was introduced, in what version...I'm guessing version 4 now...)
