Rey Should have join the Dark Side in this scene. It would have saved the character and the overall trilogy. I was completely fine with the idea of her being a nobody considering how we expected her to be a Kenobi in TFA plus it strengthens the idea that anybody can use the force. Instead of that we got Palpatine granddaughter. What a waste

I wish they would have made four movies and I wish she would’ve taken his hand. Then they could have teased the emperor’s return at the end and then the third could have been Ben slowly coming to the light and Rey embracing the dark and finally meeting her real grandfather because I would have made her the daughter of his son instead of a clone of his. She would have joined him and then the forth film would have had everyone coming together to end palps once and for all. Rey and Ben would have had an epic battle because I would do a big time jumb between the third and fourth one, enough time for her to train. I would have had ben bring her back from the dark and then together they would defeat palps and then they would create a new order that was truly balanced since both of them would have embraced both the light and dark. People don’t like her because she’s a Mary sue but her being powerful with the force was never a problem for me, it’s HOW they did it. Her also being the granddaughter of palps was a good idea but needed a little tweaking.

Wait a minute. Having seen Ahsoka, it seems like Baylan Skoll and Kylo Ren were kind of trying to do the same thing? They both wanted to “break the cycle”. Now that I think of it, this scene and the one where Baylan convinced Sabine to join him are kind of similar

Rian Johnson made a Star Wars movie that for once allowed the franchise to grow and evolve from all the tropes and quotas of the saga....

Then JJ comes along and makes a movie for attention span deprived adolescents and just jammed it with fan service.... Not to mention ruining this scene that had WAY more impact than Rey finding out that she's a "Palpatine". I never thought of JJ as a total hack, but god damn was TROS such a lazy piece of hackwork that set the franchise back and basically rendered the trilogy as unnecessary.

Nostalgia is not a plot element, and Star Wars can never progress if we keep doin the same old shit.

Last Jedi may have been a complete misfire in several aspects but the one choice that Rian made which really, really works is this one. Very important to show (especially after the prequels established the Force was hereditary) that anyone can become a Jedi, even if they're nobody. And Daisy and Adam Driver absolutely sell the emotions here; it's the one answer Rey was desperately hoping to avoid.

Too bad episode 9 decided nope, she's actually a Palpatine.

He would make the perfect Severus Snape in the upcoming Potter show. Would love to see it!

The greatest twist in the series would have been if she joined him, just like he saw when they touched hands. And by touching hands, Rey DID aee him switch to the light, byt going through the dark together. I can see Rey slowly opening Ben Solo back into the light through their connection. Through it all, they finally become a true dyad of the force. Not the crap RoS had.

That line is amazing

One of the most romantic scenes in Star Wars history you can’t convince me otherwise (all the other contenders for “most romantic” are also between them in this movie). The lighting here is absolutely incredible, as well as, of course, the performances. Love love love this movie and these characters.

Adam Driver is the only one I see acting here

This the moment Ret should have joined him. That would be one hell of a twist.

If I were Rey I would have accepted Kylo Ren’s hand and ruled the galaxy alongside him as two Knights of Ren or Sith, there is nothing wrong with ruling the galaxy in an empire not republic kind of way, it's just another form of government, monarchy different from democracy, and Rey just isn’t used to it.

Hmm, okay I have to ask, how do you rank the Star Wars films best to least among the Luke, Anakin, and new Jedi trilogies? 🤔

The way Adam delivers the line “please” is so heartbreaking. He’s arguably one of the most powerful force users in the galaxy, but he sounds about 12 years old here. He just can’t stand the thought of being alone any longer.
