Canon M50 Mark II VS M50 (The Good, The Bad, The Ugly)

I HAVE TWO but how do I tell the difference between the Mark1 and the Mark 2? I THOUGHT I had two Mark 2's but one has a different color menu.

Gonna wait to buy my first cam (gonna be a m50 mk2) to the sales... i hope they drop another 50 or 100euros 😂

unoticeable difference:
Mark 2 can shot video and result as potrait video directly, after you copy you can upload to instagram, tiktok, make youtuve short

meanwhile i stuck with my mark 1 that always result in landscape mode, i have to rotate it using editor before upload, every single piece of the video shots 😅

Answered all my questions thank you. One thing though, and I say this to all reviewers. Why use the term beginner camera. It’s not. It’s for amateurs or enthusiasts. Beginner always sounds like the reviewer is saying it’s an OK camera for everyone else but not for me, as I’m too good for it. Great channel though.

I am sure being a year old by now you know, that the MK1 can do clean HDMI via a "hack" simply using the USB cable to connect to the remote shooting software, and turning off the on screen info gives you clean output. I have been doing this for the last few videos I created.

But now that this camera is tied to my desk with 3 cables (power, usb, and hdmi) I don't really have a camera to take around to film. So honestly torn between getting another M50 since I am used to it, and have some lens already. Or upgrade to something else.

I want to get the Cannon R5C, so can't decide save that $400 for that, or spend the $400 now so I have something until I can get the R5C.

Hmm, I have an M-50 I bought in 2020 that has a Micro HDMI out. By the way, used M.50´s have gone up in price. I bought my M-50 new in 2020 for 500€ new with the kit lens, etc. Most of the used M-50´s I´ve priced recently are around 600-650€ with the kit lens. I lucked out, and bought a new one today on eBay for 386€.

With the Mark II out, it's hard to find a new Mark 1 around.

simple - let me choose for you Mark ii .. why make it so complicated .. a few dollars difference is no big deal - life is too short

In 2022 I got my Mk1 for under £300 on Wex with Good condition which is good enough, paired with Canon's 18-150mm lens from MPB for under £300 again. Total ≈ £540.

M50 Mark 2 I’ll buy you just wait.

It's a bit late but Iv'e had the M50 M1 for a few years now and can tell you about some flaws. with a mike cable input you can't rotate the screen with out pulling the cable out. there is no volume progress bars for left and right on the screen when recording in 4K so you have no idea of the audio or volume. The IR beam on the front of the body is in the wrong place, it gets blocked some times by holding the camera, this causes blurred photos or a failed shot. You can't hot swap batteries with out removing from the tripod. the lens cap on the included lens falls off unexpectedly. the built in flash if you use it has to be manually raised which is awkward when your in a hurry to get the shot. I think the biggest piss off is no volume on the screen, some times I've had to do several takes because I didn't know that there was no audio until it was played back. I use the Saramonic Blink 500 mike kit with the twin transmitters. Tony from Australia

Disappointed, I was about to buy the M50 mark II

Ive been a professional photographer for about 10 years now
I would highly recommend the Canon M50 Mark I if you're in a tight budget
Ive tested the mark ii its kinda laggy the dual pixel autofocus is sometimes delayed
But on the M50 Mark I is very good you don't really need dual pixel af that much face detection is very good

If there is no physical difference, how does one distinguish the Mark ii when buying a used camera?

The only feature I see missing is IBS but from what I’m understanding is that you can buy a lense that will create IBS. Is this accurate? I’m new to cameras. Thanks. Feed back from anyone will be helpful

Hey man, am just on the edge to buy camera and am stuck between canon 250d and canon m50 mark ii.
I noticed on the adapter 0.71x, does that means that on 1.6 crop factors the adapter adds 0.71x more of crop factor or i got that wrong?

M50 mark II is nice update and it costs less then original when announced. But if you don't need much better af and aren't planning on streaming just buy used m50. I would rather buy SL3 then old m50 since that is same as m50 II no adapters needed, have more durable hdmi port and better body design. If you plan on buying that speed booster for m50 why not just go for RP or Nikon z5? Put that speed booster and m50ii price together and you are on RP/Z5 price territory. Just skip M line at any cost. Lenses are expensive and there isn't alot of them and M mount have no future.
