Are these necessary to get the swt to send traps, or are they used to restrict which traps are sent?

Slighty off the topic, but this doesn't work for HP ProCurve switches because of the initial snmpv3 user promt. One can use the configuration template to make this happen and I wan't to share the layout since I didn't find any examples via google. Make a CLI-script, select models, like 1800,2600,2800 etc, change into the advanced content mode and copy paste this

snmpv3 user ${Username} auth sha ${Password} priv ${Password}^|^
snmpv3 group managerpriv user ${Usernamesec-model ver3^|^
no snmpv3 user initial^|^

This will enable the snmpv3 with initial user with dummypassword, creates a variable defined snmpv3 user with auth sha priv des (this because older devices don't support priv protocol change) variable password, elevates that user into a full manager and deletes the initial user. This also doesn't have the 10 device maximum limit that I was enforced while trying to use the batch config tool.
