Do you have to have a Nest Subscription to record to Apple Homekit secure video? I'd like to just use the camera for alerts on the nest hub, but only record to HSV.

If I add my wired doorbell 2022 to HKSV do I still need the nest aware subscription?

Did you ever made a video, showing the Airplay feature?
Nice video by the way😊

When viewing your Nest Camera in the Apple Home app, do you see a live view straight away or do you have a large Google 'G' logo in place? I have just set up Hoobs on a Pi4B for my Nest Indoor/Putdoor Battery Cameras, and have this experience, even when I have a Nest Aware account with 24/7 live recording. Im wondering if I should get a Starling Home Hub instead? Reading online they say it is due to the Google Device Access API.

I hope someone can help me as I'm running out of time, quickly. I have 4 Google nest wired cameras and the plan that's 12$ a month. What I need is to save footage/recording/clip that could be as long as an hour or 30 minutes. I did it once on my phone and for the life of me I cannot figure out how I did it. HELP....PLEASE! It's footage of my dog that died and I need it.

Do you think basic automation will be available directly through google anytime soon? (Eg turn on lights when my camera detects people)

Hi Brian,

Can you have an update on this with the wired 2022 nest doorbell please.

Looks like Starling is able to run it with HKSV

Thanks!!

Hey Brian, does this by any chance enable automation starters for the Nest Camera with Floodlight daylight sensor?

I got all excited until i realized Starling only works with HomeKit. :( I was hoping for SmartThings or something in the Android world.

I don’t have the option to add the secure video function from my Home app while using this method?

Starling is one of the best things I have in my SmartHome. It's pretty amazing in HK. The package notification announcing a package is at the door on my AirPlay2 speakers is something we use everyday, thanks to my wife's spending habits. lol

Just had mine delivered to the UK. Whilst expensive, it’s just so simple to install and it ‘just works’.

Completely replaced my SmartThings and Hubitat setup.

Added the Starling and Aqara M2 and happy days. Even my old Xiaomi Sensors work perfectly which were hit and miss on ST.

Wish I’d moved to HomeKit sooner!

Any chance you could try to set up a 2 week on/off schedule for a nest thermostat based around icalendar with this for us? The Nest learning ‘stat by itself only allows a one week programme which is insufficient. Thanks!

I’ve largely ignoredNest Products because they didn’t work with HomeKit, but this is a great solution. I might have to look into the Nest Protect smoke detectors

I’d pay for a device like that to bring my Wyze cams into HomeKit without having to hack the Wyze firmware, it’s my only home tech I don’t have in HomeKit

Brian,
What a brilliant workaround! So nice to see you dragging Google into the world of automations. I can’t wait for the day that this would actually work without a third-party bridge. I need to experiment and see what I can do to make things work with all of my Google and nest devices. Thanks for discovering this work around and making another excellent video. You probably should update your song to dream by Rush!
