what is the reason for the changes in runway 07 in rio gallegos? look so different compared to the real one
ОтветитьI really like light attack aircraft. and the BAE hawk 200 is really cool to me. its just such a small jet but it carries so much weight.
ОтветитьThe Goshawk needs Turco burns =o). Not that I have ever burned an aircraft =o)
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thank you for the info! I'm a HUGE fan of Prairie Fire! Love that mod for Arma. You guys did a phenomenal job!
ОтветитьI am interested in hiring individuals to do all the parts of a mod idea I'd like to see created (i.e. 3D model, scripting, and other programming for compatibility with DCS, etc.). Are there resources that I can use to find them?
ОтветитьOh snap, didn't know you worked on Prairie Fire! I've lost many friends in the fields of Nam thanks to that DLC. BEST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT FOR ARMA 3 content
ОтветитьSome of the mods are amazing, I love the T-45, and there are assets I wish were part of the core game because they would make mission building so much easier. BUT: my biggest beef with unofficial mods is that they're never fully tested and checked what impact they have on the core game or other modules. Official modules are put in the testing branch, first internally then open beta and it's made 100% sure they don't cause any glitch with anything else. This can't be said about unofficial mods. They very often affect other modules, cause bugs, and those take the blame instead of the mod. I've seen soldiers disappearing from WW2 missions because of an unofficial jet having been installed. I've heard of people losing the gun sound in their P-51 due to some unofficial assets, and I've seen plenty of mission / campaign issues that were seemingly unexplainable, but as soon as xyz mod was uninstalled, the problems were gone. I really hate how much time I (and other campaign makers) spend 'troubleshooting' and 'community management' just because someone installed a bunch of untested code. Maybe ED should consider making 'half-official mods' - so the best community mods like the T-45 would be tested internally and also open beta, so they would get a 'safe to use' label. Dunno...
ОтветитьThanks, that game dev ARMA stuff is also pretty interesting!
ОтветитьHopefully the aircraft’s you touched wasn’t under aged
ОтветитьI guess BF3/4 had a great animated carrier cutscene...
ОтветитьThe cost of the licencing is what kills most projects (Games Dev myself), ED's cut percentage is not insignificant (not being negative on ED just saying)
ОтветитьThanks, Juice. Incidentally, I found your slides on the runway markings interesting and useful - I’ve known all the markings mean something but I’ve never gone down that particular track. I don’t play multi because my eyesight has some serious problems and, apart from being a liability to any team, I need markers to have the most basic SA. Maybe I’ll get involved once I’ve had the surgery? Why would someone with vision issues get involved with flight simming - Simple, because I can, and obviously can’t do so IRL despite being one of those people who dreamt of flying as a child. That’s the magic of the virtual world!
Anyway, thanks for your help via the videos. Apart from DCS, I love the Prairie Fire DLC for Arma. Back when I was a young man (and could see a lot better!) my commanders in the Australian Army were mostly Vietnam veterans and our weapons and equipment were all Vietnam War vintage (this was 1983) so it’s amazing to go back to that stuff, even though we mostly used the SLR rather than M16. We did have them, though, as well as M60s and most of our training exercises involved insertions via Huey so it’s a real blast to revisit that stuff. My country was at peace during my time so luckily I didn’t have to try to kill anyone, so my spectacles are naturally gonna be rose tinted. :D.
Was a SSgt working on AWACS as maintenance crew chief. Just found your channel, very cool!
ОтветитьCurious about your views re the remarkable Community A-4EC Skyhawk Mod, which even ED uses in their videos of late.
ОтветитьI love the A4 and the T45C, but personally the one I like to fly the most is the OV-10A by SPLIT-AIR. The Bronco is just an awesome aircraft in it’s own right, and it gives us another prop acft to use. Vietnam to present day (in the form of the OV-10D+ & G+, firefighting variants notwithstanding), the slower cousin of the A-10.
Of the mods/ideas I know of being worked on, I’d love to see the still unreleased F-111 and an OV-10D either picked up by a big dev (*cough cough* Heatblur, F-111 *cough cough*) or a new real company formed for them.
Thank you for your continued work for this community Juice.
Well presented, well explained. Thanks for your time putting this together.
ОтветитьThe only mods that are worth it were the A-4, the C-130 and the MB-339. The A-4 developers want to keep their mod free and open source, so...
"Many won't make it" because creating a realistic flight model is not the same as painting a snazzy texture. Then there's the systems modeling, which is a monumental task on its own...
THE AIR WARFARE GROUP because of greed!
DCS IMHO should be full price 70$ game
and all mods and modules need to be free.
I talked about releasing a payed campaign with professional designers.
With campaigns it is simple: Expensive country = financial Desaster (if you have no other well paid job)
The community is just to small for good money and in my case the taxes would kill me.
My solution: Keep it for free.
because its russian is also a reason why ...
ОтветитьWhile it's a bit frustrating as a customer to see all this cool stuff we want to see included as official modules, I think ED's methods do help keep the quality bar set very high. Despite warts, painfully slow development, DCSisms, etc., you can plop down cash on any module and know that there is a "guaranteed" level of quality. None of the disappointments that come with the MSFS marketplace exist in DCS.
ОтветитьHey SrA here, I used to work on engines of the HH-60 Pavehawk and HC-130J
ОтветитьWhy did you spend the first 8 minutes going over your CV with us?
ОтветитьAll hail the mighty T45! Thanks for the shoutout 🍻 Glad to see the = Viper Crew = gaining traction.
ОтветитьFound this channel via Pricklyhedgehog , great work people .
ОтветитьI call us mod makers 4th party .
ОтветитьInteresting section on the South Atlantic map there; I'm guessing the runway markings you suggested are meant to be representative of an earlier point in time, perhaps 1982? The original markings look very close to what's visible on google maps. Thanks for the great video, looking forward to seeing what you put out in 2023!
ОтветитьI think it’s already been stated in the comments, but the dev behind the UH-60 mod wanted to go 3rd party but it was already spoken for per ED. He offered his assistance to the 3rd party developing the module if needed since the ground work was laid in his free mod. That’s the last I heard. Not sure who is doing it, but definitely spoken for already
ОтветитьHappy new year Juice! Had my coffee with this video! Really enjoyed it 😊
Ответить"C++ and LUA coding is yada yada yada"
Me - "I got 6 months Visual Basic and running Windows Vista for the last 20 years. Does that count?"
Good vid. Many people don't realize just how much work it takes to bring a mod to full-blown module status, and just how big a minefield getting the information needed to accurately make something in DCS.
ОтветитьGreat work juice!
ОтветитьMy favorite free mod's are the one's from CodeName Flanker mod. And the JAS39 Gripen is also a great mod. I would pay full price for both of them.
ОтветитьLicenses, public information, and money to fully develop. That's what stops most mods from becoming modules.
ОтветитьHooah 🤘🏻
ОтветитьSuper cool you helped test and developed a great DLC on one of my favorite games Arma 3 and are active in DCS community. I spent 9 years as a F-16 crew chief. I am still learning to master all the weapons and sick actuator skills that come along with the Viper in DCS. Currently working on the EA-18G in the civilian sector and would love to see that aircraft implemented into DCS in the future.
ОтветитьGREAT CHANNEL REALLY !
ОтветитьIt's a real shame the H-60 project isn't going to be a paid module. The project is fantastic and would love to see it be more widely used.
ОтветитьI am tremendously happy for Anubis. Making a mod and being recruited to help ASC make it a full module must be nice. I am predicting that ED will announce an H-60 for DCS in 2023 and Beyond. I'd heard that the H-60 team wanted to make it full fidelity and ED told them it's not available.
ОтветитьGreat video, great information, and thank you for your service, MSGT.
ОтветитьBlue Screen/Green Screen...it's all the same 😉 We've all asked, hey, why can't this community module make it into the game? This video should answer some of those questions, and there's nothing wrong with these quality free modules staying free. However, if you want to go pro, it takes an effort. ~Juice
