British Instructional Film presents a Classroom Film.



01:11:45 Combine harvester at work in a field. C/U of blades in operation cutting the wheat. Wheat kernels being poured into a pile. Flour is poured into a large vat - word "Lyons" visible on the side. Man uses a metal scoop to lift out some flour and let it drop back into the vat. Something is thrown into the flour - unidentified but looks like a lump of bread dough. The vat is wheeled over to a machine. Yeast is broken up and added to a bucket of water. This is added to the flour mixture with more water, salt and fat. The mixture is mixed.



01:13:55 A man punches a large vat of risen dough. Baker cuts off a chunk of dough and throws it into a machine which cuts and weighs the dough. Pieces of dough are fed into another machine which rolls them into balls and drops them out on to small pads. They then drop down a chute. They are then transported by conveyor belt. Rolls of dough coming down a conveyor belt are twisted together and put into baking tins. Rows of tins with dough inside in the oven. Two men turn the loaves out of the tins. Bread is sent down a chute and along a conveyor belt.
