If you really want to break action economy, conjure animals is an amazing summoning spell. Summoning eight beasts of CR 1/4 or lower can be absolutely busted. Upcasting it to summon two CR 2 beasts can also help out a lot if you get something really strong like polar bears or Allosaurus (they did put dinosaurs in Baldur's Gate 3 right? if so eight Velociraptors are just about the best thing you could summon)

Just admire how ppl keep forgetting that blood is a liquid too. So you can freeze it and use lightning on it just like on water with the same effects for your enemy.

The most powerful spell is haste...

Twinned haste your two fighters, they each get 6 attacks in 1 turn with action surge. Or maybe quickened metamagic to launch 3 fireballs in one turn. Haste is absurdly broken. High constitution plus war caster plus haste pretty much guarantees you ten turns with two action points to use as you please.

Magic Missile is however completely negated when trying to fire into Cloud of Darkness. It technically hits the enemies, but fails to do damage.

I've found spiritual weapon better in tabletop than in BG3. In BG3, I continuously encounter enemies who just want to kite you all fight long. Aside from being deeply annoying, it also means that, with a movement of only 20, spiritual weapon quickly gets left in the dust as the battle transitions into a particularly violent triathlon.

In 5e, polymorph is typically more valuable when cast on an ally...no saving throw to fail and you turn that ally into a massive damage sponge. You mention only the offensive aspect of the spell. Can you not target allies with polymorph in BG3?

Haste + Potion of Invisibility is a good time :)

Thank you for this. I'm new to DnD and games around it, I only played Divinity from similar type of genre. It's extremely confusing to choose from so many spells and skills, especially for all your companions, I didn't expect to play as all those classes as well, when I chose bard for myself. Anyway, this made my fear of doing something wrong or inefficient a little less stressful.

Not sure if it's among the best but Hunger of Hadar has trivialized so many encounters for me. It's particularly nasty if you also cast Silence and Grease in the same area.

Cloud of Daggers is also a very good spell.

It's particularly nasty because it's a level 2 area denial spell. While Druid, Sorc, and Wizard will get wall of fire later. That's much later. And requires a level 4 spell slot.

Cloud of daggers can do a disgusting amount of damage as it deals damage the first time an entity enters the area. And when they start their turn in it. And it does this with no save.

Just because an enemy leaves the area doesn't mean that you lost value. Because you can shove them back into it. Or throw them.

The strongest spell (if you can call it that) In my own opinion is "song of rest" the benefits are so great it's hard to quantify

Running with two clerics is king. You can have one cast spirit guardians and the other cast sanctuary on them. They become untargetable and do constant damage. Also, glyph of warding and channel divinity radiance won't break sanctuary either.

Otto's irresistible dance is by far the nost broken spell in the game. All act 3 bosses were hitting the griddy for the entire duration of the fight.

Hunger of Hadar is probably the best warlock control spell. Watch them wander blindly trying to escape while taking cold and acid damage EVERY TURN not to mention the moment they get out you PUSH THEM BACK IN with Eldritch Blast.

Although I am still in Act II, I have won more battles from using the “Laughter” spell. I cast it on so many bosses, knock them down and give myself time to either heal of give them an old fashioned boot stomp while they are rotfl. 🤣😂
