Gillian Keegan - take note about running tape recorders.
Ответить"you lied ... I know this is a difficult concept to get across to a politician."
it has always been like this and it will be forever be like this.
And there will always be media spreading politicians' words and there will always be countless fools believing politicians and their media.
I saw it as a kid and even now it's as fresh as morning tea!!
Ответить‘Honesty always gives you the advantage of surprise in the House of Commons’. And indeed of many legislatures!
ОтветитьIt was off the record!
IT WAS ON THE TAPE!
Iconic dialogue 🧠🤍🇬🇧🇩🇪🇺🇸
Two things stand the test of time.
1. This series.
2. Everybody commenting “this series is as true today as it was all those years ago…”
Someone else said this, and I completely agree, this is a documentary, not just a comedy. Genius.🌄
ОтветитьCOAST of Malabar song
Ответить"Epistemological?!? What are you talking about???" HILARIOUS!!! 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьI used to think there could be a special after Paul Eddington died, with Sir Humphrey and Bernard meeting at or after the funeral of the PM, with shenanigans and skullduggery to follow, of course!
Though all three of these wonderful actors are now gone, at least we can still enjoy their work and the great scripts which made this such a terrific show.
I'd far rather have these people in government than any of the ne'r do wells we've got at present (2012 - 23). At least they understand the concept of 'public service'.
ОтветитьThe most brilliant series ever....anywhere!
I have never appreciated the beauty of the
English language more! And how prophetic
in the episode about Sir Humphrey ‘s
explanation about why he was in favour
of Great Britain joining the EU!
O
Great.
ОтветитьHonestly, the series was both informative and entertaining.
Wonderful cast, wonderful script.
I just find myself wanting to go over the scenes again and again.
Brilliant show and cast
ОтветитьActually Sir Humphrey telling the PM he lied was also laying upon the English language an error. To be a lie the speaker must know it was untrue. So while Hacker did not tell the truth, and indeed misled Parliament, he did not tell a lie as he thought it was the truth.
ОтветитьI wonder how many " tapes" are hanging around in real life?
ОтветитьThis is the perfect ending for the series: The Rt. Hon. James Hacker has become an impersonation of Sir Humphrey, but now on the most exalted stage in the United Kingdom.
Ответитьalthough this is a comedy series about a buffoon who by some extreme stroke of luck is now running the country, jim hacker would still be a better prime minister than most of the real one`s that we have to put up with these days.
ОтветитьAfter 3 years of authoritarian govt in West... this is NOT funny.
ОтветитьThat wasn't the last episode of Yes Prime Minister, Its an episode of Yes Minister.
ОтветитьIt still, to me, seems to sit in a grey area between satire and documentary.
Brilliant in any case.
This show gets as close to perfection as any show, I have ever seen.
Casting 10/10
Writing 10/10
Acting 10/10
Directing, spot on
Producing, spot on
38 Episodes in total, nowhere near enough.
Funny how this mirrors what happens in the States...especially with the likes of Donald t’Rump, Kevin McCarthy, Lindsey Graham, and the most outrageous of all, George Santos—or whatever his lying-ass name is. Lord love a duck.
ОтветитьThese days referring someone to a speech you made on a certain date would be political suicide
ОтветитьWatching Yes, PM should be mandatory for all children 16 years old.
Me, I was a bit younger when I saw it, and I thought it was a weekly documentary.
Still the best ever documentary about British politics 😁
Ответить最好的电视剧
ОтветитьGreat cameo by Ludovic Kennedy.
ОтветитьThe saddest part of watching these brilliant programs is that nothing has changed except that politicians are even more inept and the bureaucrats do not have Sir Humphrey’s skills. Nobody writes like this anymore.
ОтветитьThe ability to be truthful unless it impacts ones career or reputation is superb comedy, a great piece 😬
ОтветитьIf only our current scavengers were people with integrity!
Ответить40 odd years later, practically everything in this series is still relevant. One of those rare moments where writing, acting, direction and chemistry come together perfectly. My favourite sitcom. Thank you to all who made this possible.
ОтветитьSad that, around 35 years on, this show remains almost as topical and devastatingly accurate as it was when first broadcast.
ОтветитьSir Humphrey should know that an interesting interview can only be a bomb.
ОтветитьWicked old Humpy. Got his just deserts.
ОтветитьSadly the last four Governments have demonstrated far more incompetence and corruption than the 'Yes Prime Minister' scriptwriters could ever have imagined.
ОтветитьThis was a wonderful comedy classic all of them fantastic actor's who are sadly missed a masterpiece in every way GREAT, WONDERFUL, BRILLIANT.
ОтветитьMaybe he hasn't heard, you live in abject poverty, on eighty one thousand pounds a year....😁
ОтветитьComedy genius
ОтветитьAging like fine wine
ОтветитьSuperb show, well observed and beautifully acted.
ОтветитьThis isn't the last ever episode, it isn't even Yes Prime Minister
ОтветитьIt is ever true then as today across the pond in America.
ОтветитьCapturing the bitter essence of modern politics and adding a sweet layer of comedy to make it palatable.
ОтветитьEpistemological
ОтветитьSheer genius.
ОтветитьHacker & Sir Humphrey will probably run the UK better than Sunak !!
ОтветитьYes Prime Minister morphs in to the Thick of It and the comedy continues!
ОтветитьCould have been filmed this evening…..l🤷🏼♂️🙄🤔
