how to delete materials competely from the max scene, i've tried so many things but nothing completely wipes out the unused materials from scene materials.
ОтветитьThanks Ava...
ОтветитьI used the compact editor in the beginning as that was all that was available, up until 2015 I think. Once I forced myself to get used to Slate, there is just no going back. It's so much easier to control instanced nodes, adding controllers (so things like UVW scale or material parameters can be shared and controlled across several nodes), and you're no longer limited to 32 materials to edit at once. The only problem with Slate though is if you have a lot of tabs and/or a lot of materials in the view(s), that adds to not only your filesize but also to how long it takes to open a file.
Ответитьpls make a video on volumetric light pls
ОтветитьIf you want to move material with all of its maps, you can use CTRL+ALT+left mouse click (drag) on material.
ОтветитьI use the compact, like 95% of the time, because I'm not used to the slate mat.editor. With your video I might use it more, thanks!
ОтветитьThank you...😍
ОтветитьCompact, old school all the way. That way I keep a mental scheme in my mind and I can see more than just the slate.
Ответитьcan you make tutorials about Autodesk Maya ?
Ответитьi personaly don't understand why there still have pple who use the compact material editor... way less intuitive and visual
ОтветитьGud
Ответитьslate mtrl editor id too confusing i always use compact
Ответитьfor complex and multi submix materials is useful. It's useful also to check if textures are instanced properly, this is basic when using gpu (not only) renderers where textures must be optimized across all the scene materials. Also changing a multitude of parameters with just one value is possible only within the slate.
ОтветитьLove Slate Mode but i want learn more about all the maps and trick you can do !!!tx
ОтветитьHey, I want to buy your school.
I have a question, the curriculum is the type through your videos and self education??
Useful content
Ответитьi have a problem with viewing materials v ray in view port max 2020 any kind of solution plz ?
Ответитьyou are God of Teaching skills.
thanks a lot. i was here to learn how to teach as a teacher. and i think no one can explain better than the way you do.
Thank you very much for this video! I used the old view, as the slate editor was a bit intimidating.
I think the stress for the word material would be [mə'tɪərɪəl] for the second syllable.
Keep up the good work!
very nice - I am still using the compact material editor but gonna try the slate one again
Ответитьslate of course
ОтветитьSeeing the comments i dont even understand how in 2021 people can still use compact editor. The slate is so much more powerfull. This video barely scratches the power of it. Instancing maps, and to go furtheryou can even instance uv mapping. You can add color correction by the fly between two nodes, or delete them by Alt+drag and shake mouse. You can have multiple board view, drag and drop bitmap from windows on it. Etc etc etc....
Guys take one hour to switch to it, you wont regret it.
It's driving me nuts right now. I want to create an Arnold Material and observe the changes in Active Shade. Whenever I use active sahde, the material preview will turn black and I cant see what I'm doing. If I turn Acttive shade off, the material Preview in slate works fine, but the object in the Viewport has no texture - because the arnol Material has no Support for this. I'm this close to punch a hole in my monitor.
ОтветитьUwielbiam!
Ответитьi dont like slate...
ОтветитьIs there anyway here to replace the material by ‘copy+paste’ from other material like “compact editor” does have..........thanks in advance
Ответитьat school we were taught the compact editor it is what I have been using.
ОтветитьComing from Blender. Compound sucks and slate has one crucial design flaw which literally makes me scream in frustration. Why do I constantly have to see all materials of all the objects in the scene??? It's ridiculous, confusing and in most cases unnecessary. I want to see the material of the selected object not everything all the time. Luckily there is a script to make that happen. Still incredibly stupid design decision which tells how far 3ds max is already behind it's competition in certain areas.
ОтветитьGood one 👍
⭐⭐⭐
This tutorial is clean and easy to understand, thanks for that!
ОтветитьI come from Blender, so Slate makes more sense to me.
ОтветитьK. So I've been using Max since 1998. Starting with 3D Studio Max R2. I have always used the compact material editor (at least that's what its called now) and would like to explore moving to the slate editor. To be honest, I find the slate editor very confusing and visually jumbled. Needless to say, I'm still using the compact editor. I would be interested in a tutorial that concentrates specifically on old schoolers such as myself converting our work flows over to the slate editor. Is there such a tutorial?
Ответитьyou need to pronounce MATERIAL muh·tee·ree·uhlz better... if you're going to teach a tutorial in English please refer to proper pronunciation otherwise teach in your native language with English sub titles.. is very distracting.. I'm trying to help so please don't think I'm being harsh.
ОтветитьIf i right-click to add a material, is there a way to customize what options show up? I feel like i've seen this in a tutorial. Thanks
ОтветитьBeen using the compact material editor since the earliest 3dsmax version. Tried to move to slate editor several times, but always return to compact. But now I think i have to push myself to slate editor, as materials get more complex these days. I feel the compact editor just struggling to keep up with the multitude branchings of submaterial, maps, etc of today's materials. Thank you for your explanation
Ответитьcan you please explain how to change the default background and create the new ones in the material previews?? yours looked amazing
ОтветитьFK SLATE. I like Compact
ОтветитьI am not getting the coronamtl option can anyone tell me how should i do that
ОтветитьI love my sister . Thenkyou
ОтветитьHow to make lether material?
ОтветитьWhere or how do I find the museum’s internal endoscopy blocks, which are free. Please help
ОтветитьCan you put a background image in the Slate Material Editor window itself ( instead of the gray grid BG ) ? to help organize the positioning of materials
ОтветитьHello. How do you pass materiales to the editor from a done scene?
Ответитьhi . how to copy and paste material (replace in other material ) in SME ?
to compact material its easy . but i dont know this in SME .
thank you.
ОтветитьI use slate material editor as it gives more flexibility to work.
Ответить5 click only to select 1 material (1 on compct one ) need to drag and drop alltime... 1 click on old material editor ...loose time with this shit(25 clicks just to put a bitmap in diffuse color) I hate new stupid update
