A total of 4,414 Allied troops were killed on D-Day itself, including 2,501 Americans. More than 5,000 were wounded. In the ensuing Battle of Normandy, 73,000 Allied forces were killed and 153,000 wounded

Alright, they asked and I shall deliver. C Co. of the 2nd Ranger Batt. landed at Charlie sector so that they could take out WN 73 and help the 116th RCT (which at that time was the remnants of A and B Companies). The rest of the 2nd Ranger Batt. took Pointe Du Hoc and the 5th Ranger Batt. landed at Dog White with General Cota (that's where they got "Rangers, lead the way" from). Companies A and B of the 2nd landed at Dog Green at around the same time as the 5th did.

Medal of Honor airborne has my favorite D-day mission. It's from the airborne's perspective dropping in behind the enemy lines. Super fun, and the game plays excellently. They should seriously check that one out.

Little note on the Maginot Line - France didn't built it all the way to the coast and the Wehrmacht went around through Belgium, which to everybody's surprise let to the siege of Dunkirk

My favorite representation of dday is saving private Ryan it showed what it was like with infantry deployment locations the tank traps things like that and the decentralized command between a army commanding officer and a naval engineer that was sent to clear paths for Sherman and other tanks and it's the best war movie for me and number 2 is the patriot third has to be hell on wheels tv series

I think there's another version of Omaha Beach in Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.
Then you also have Hell Let Loose (Omaha and Utah) and Post Scriptum (Utah).
And of course, Arma 3 modded.

Well, Marino line was outdated, but it was still powerful enough to make the Germans go through Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands (still not entirely sure why the dutch were invaded they posed no serious threat and where basically completely politically neutral like in WW1

Some information for you guys:
1) The rope mortars were in fact, used during the Pointe du Hoc, however, they were quite ineffective. In training, they performed as expected, but in action, the salty sea water weighed them down, and this was not a factor taken into account. This means only a few of the ropes actually made it up.
2) A widely accepted number for casualties for the D-Day invasions were 10,000 injured. I cannot recall if the was U.S. casualties, or allied casualties though.
3) The reason you are seeing weapons like PPSH's is because the German forces defending the beach were made up of old men, kids, and injured soldiers. There were few professional soldiers, and much less uninjured ones on the beaches. All of the promising cadets were taken by SS divisions, and all professional soldiers were dedicated at the other fronts. They were supplied with the worst that the Wermacht had to offer, as well as weapons confiscated/recovered from enemy forces.
