I like the idea of turning my servants into grand servants, but I don't like the fact that there are restrictions on where I can take them. I'll wait for more information to confirm this, but if it's true, what's the point of making my favorite servants grand if I can't take them where I want to?

A really clever way to make us use the less popular bond CE.
BUT, a really weird way to make the Grand "buffs" being usable only in limited content.

Everyone confidently claiming in the comments that the grand graph will only be applicable to standard class servants and not extra class servants should be aware that this has not been officially stated anywhere, it's purely speculation based on how grand servants work in the lore. The ONLY requirements stated in the article are lvl 100+ and skills 10/10/10. Obviously in the lore, actual grand servants can only belong to the standard 7 classes, and since we can only have 7 grand graph servants people are assuming that it'll be one per standard class, but this has not been confirmed anywhere. It's entirely possible that there will be some lore justification about how since we're artificially enhancing their saint graphs, the normal restrictions won't apply. In particular, the fact that they've stated that they'll be doing rerun banners for EVERY SSR (not just standard classes) and specifically mention that this is in preparation for the introduction of the grand graph system, strongly leads me to believe that this will be the case (though, of course, that's just speculation on my part).

i think rather than any skills, grand servants would acquire specific traits and stat boosts

Yeah, like most people, any excitement I had about this disappeared when they imposed restrictions on where you could take them.

I get it: it's for game balancing/game mechanics reasoning. They don't want people slapping it on Berserkers and having them mow down 99% of Challenge content. Even if the counter argument is "Well, just make it harder to do the Challenge content if you use Berserkers/fill up Challenge content with Foreigners", that change would screw over anyone who DOESN'T slap it on a Berserker and relies on Berserkers for certain content like Challenge Quests.

Overall, if you're going to introduce Grand Servant power to the players, you're setting yourself up for blowback. Either you give it to them with no restrictions and trivialize a vast majority of your content Unga-Boonga style, or you put restrictions on it and prevent people from playing as they want to, which causes them to get angry at you.

On one hand, getting your favorites to become Grand is very cool. On the other hand, this make the title less special, since you are essentially manufacturing the planet's own Deus ex Machina.

On the subject of them being restricted from quests, hopefully this means they will be similar to Mash with the Dress Lock so we can use the regular version instead of straight up banning them. That way they can tailor the Grand specific quests to be of the appropriate difficulty without ramming up the power creep.

Sounds more like Grand Servant status is a "mode" for those special encounters. Otherwise it would be pretty nonsensical for your favorite Servant (s) of choice to suddenly be locked out of most content. I also have to assume those would be some nice buffs, as a way to make using your Grand Servant against those fights a "good" choice if you want regardless of class typing or kit.

Mine's definitely going to be Iskandar either way, he's been capped out at Bond 15, NP 5 (6), full app skills, Fous Beast Seals, you name it for years at this point.

I think I'll just make the servants I know are candidates grand servants, grand servants, like merlin, rider merlin, assassin grandpa etc

I'm a bit on the fence here because I won't be able to use my Grand Servant during normal and event quests. But oh well. Maybe it would be Heracles.

So I'm really hoping they take off the "Can only use the grand servant in certain fights" and just make it they can only equip there bond CE for free in certain fights. I want to make my 120 Maxed Abby into the grandest of Abby's, but idk if I want to stop my ability to use her for farming especially after her most recent JP buff that makes her pretty relevant as a sub dps in 90++

bad system, making grand waifu means i cant farm with them .....
stuck with making random grands just for those specific fight

Well it fixes the useless bond CE issue, so that is a Plus, but it is very restrictive if we cannot change them back and forth from Grand to Normal servants.
Why cause while farming isn't that much of a issue for most, everybody has one or two backup teams by now, but doing example Event Recollection Quest, oh I can't use my Summer Ibuki...Castoria whatever, cause they are Grand Servants. could cause a lot of issue and drama, or people selecting the wrong Grand Servants and realize they are F with one of their 7 usages.
I don't know all in all it looks great, but the execution could be a huge Drama issue if implemented with restrictions.

i wish its like a switch similar to how we can change mash from galahad to ortinax, otherways i see no point in this system i want my favorite servant on each class to be grand but i also want to use them a lot

Maybe letting us ascend our servants to Grand for just those real battles, and let us use them in their vanilla form until then.

I still think that some Bond CE need rework especially those with niche. Like buff success rate is needed for Hans but nah, debuff chance resist something 40%? Why? At least one give him 20% NP gen or 15% Arts so he can get more NP gain

I do remember a node in Lostbelt 7 where we see Grands and they have level 150. That would be neat, I the chosen servant is 120 you can level him to 150 without using grails, the ultimate reward

From the looks of it, they're saying they Grand Servants can only deploy AS Grand Servants for specific quests. The Japanese text on the screen says "特定バトルでのみ、グランドサーヴァントとして出撃できる！" The important part is the "として" which literally translates to "as." That likely means they can deploy as regular Servants for other content. Here comes my Grand Berserker Herc...

Wait I thought it was only either the world (Gaia) or the will of humanity that can promote servants being only seven to grand class for one battle against a beast or a threat to mankind

I also thought grand servants couldn’t align with places like Chaldea this was because the grand servant was perished for the reason only to save mankind itself/as a whole so joining Chaldea means throwing away the right to receive a rank of grand

Ik we got some examples like xian ruler and ort foreigner
But going based on how Sherlock Holmes was shocked at a grand having a class of ruler seems that extra classes can’t or not supposed to be grands as there are only seven grands being the main seven classes ie cavalry, knight and the berserker

Does anyone know how the banners will kind of work? since they said something like they will bring back every servant banner for people who might have missed out on their banners in the past? like will this be spread out through the year?

If we have multiple copies of the same servant can we make one grand and keep the other regular?
