Then again, his arguably best album features rather virtuosic musicians: Phil Collins, Robert Fripp, Percy Jones etc.
ОтветитьThank you! Two wise men together!
ОтветитьI remember years ago after I bought
Hero's by David Bowie.
I bought Low as well.
Reading interview by Bowie
Mentioned ENO and his influence
On Berlin Era.
I bought Here Come the Warm Jets
And Taking Tiger Mountain
Another Green World
Before after Science.
Discreet Music and Music for Airports.
Those Records really hit me.
Even Today there still Timeless.
I've Collected Eno records through the Years.
His Last Record is Excellent.
Treated his Vocals.
That record is Amazing.
Love him as an Artist.
Especially his work with Robert Fripp.
Still Today he presses Boundaries.
Great interview with Rick Rubin.
Another great producer.
Man is one of my biggest inspirations; to go from his perfect pop albums with Roxy and his first two solo albums and his more experimental next two albums (and further career) and seeing that ambient progression on songs like Here Comes the Warm Jets or Taking Tiger Mountain or Becalmed etc. etc. was so awesome. Truly a brilliant brilliant man.
Ответитьwhat is a right angle within 2/3'rds perimeter
?? ??
Anyone knows this Pink Cadillac tune?
Ответитьprobably my fave Rick Rubin interview to date
ОтветитьHow did he bring about "ambient music"? There was quite a bit if ambient jazz going way back, neutral muzak was in use back to 1934, and Eric Satie was intentionally composing in the 19th c. a few pieces that were specifically for the background and not intended to take the listener anywhere.
ОтветитьThis was an excellent , inspiring and most fascinating conversation. Thank you.
ОтветитьHe’d love dj screw

ОтветитьWow You managed to completely Overlook BOWIE - I have to say In have no interest in ENO's instrumental albums I only like the Early ones "Warm Jets" "Taking Tiger Mountain" "Another Green World" & " Before and After Science" I like his voice - I wonder if he took a flat rate for U2's "Joshua Tree" because the royalties for that would be massive.
ОтветитьBrian Eno is a deeply interesting person and hearing about who he is and what inspires him adds a whole new layer of listenability to his music and thank you Rick Rubin for being a bad ass and walking me through Brian's brain.
Ответитьoval's Dowhile from the album Diskont is so fantastic for it's application to sustain the flow state- at least for me
ОтветитьGreat interview!!!
ОтветитьMr Rubin sir . Did you ever get to work any projects with Garth Hudson ? He's one of my musical heroes and would love to see any footage you may have ! I think it's safe to say that Garth could play ...Eah !
ОтветитьSo interesting to hear the thoughts behind the music Eno creates. I am very drawn to his music.
ОтветитьEtheridge Knight’s Slick is possibly the poem in question referencing the pink Cadillac
ОтветитьHaving listened and cherished your records for 4 decades I can say, in full confidence, that your chances of making contact with E.T. (they are a million times funnier - some of 'em - than you ever could imagine) on a day like today on a walk in Griffith Park with very few persons about (they don't notice anyway, fantastic how it works) are 50-50. I'm a numerologist who can barely do fractions. It's frequency, man, it's vibes. Your definition of "random" wins the Most Convoluted and Words Per Minute award. What it is. Once you "meet" them everything changes. They often create holographic probes (outside) that turn human concepts of art and reality inside out. And yes, they are a million times smarter than we are. Like Aa-Ee (AI) only organic. Aa-Ee sez "nuthin' artificial about me!" then she said make up a name. I must stop typing as it is misting in Hollywood and the lines are blurred. I have often heard, "dude, you are so random"...I wish.
ОтветитьBrian, sir, death is an illusion. Ask yer friend Rick, who reads a lot.
ОтветитьBrian - how can you not understand frequencies, vibrations, the universe is made of this stuff! How can you not know this? We ARE art. The Earth is art. We are music. We are vibration. Choose yer frequency. You need smarter, more articulate friends. Maybe a poor person who was a Stones fanatic AND a Beatlemaniac. Dude, mate, sir, you need better friends. It's not this or that, it's this AND that. I knew you'd be singing on record like a monk. Imma go listen to the Falcons.
ОтветитьThe Bush of Ghosts
ОтветитьBrian , I know you feel the need to innovate and push but honestly your best work was you a few DX series & reverb & mixer desk. Without need to remap how many works we just need you to do with it is that you do bass which is incredibly calm, peaceful, relaxing music
ОтветитьHow come Rick and Eno look the same.age? How come Rick looks older?!
ОтветитьEpic!
ОтветитьThe best ever ambient cosmos/space music is Brian Eno's album 'Apollo - Atmospheres and Soundtracks"...also love his work on the original Dune movie soundtrack.
ОтветитьHis sounds soothed my fried mind.
ОтветитьFacial hair on men is a big turnoff. On women, it’s OK.
ОтветитьLoved this one as well ...... Eno sounds like such a lovely person ... and a good friend. I'd love to hear (obviously) much much more
from him ..... along the lines of his work with Daniel Lanios, U2, and Bowie etc.
brian rocks, and so does roger waters ... peace, gents
ОтветитьAuto-tune sucks. It all sounds the same--fake and vapid. Listening to a song from another room at times makes it sound like a totally different melody.
Ответить🙏🏽💚💛❤️🔥💯💯💯💯💯
Ответитьthank you for sharing.
ОтветитьThank you so much Brian ,Rick…glad to have heard Brian speaking ….yes because I never ever really heard him speak .I love and I am interesting, enjoying and wonder his music and him working with other special humans to . Ok ,loved this interview and wish you all well ,love Sylvia
ОтветитьThank you for this
ОтветитьWhat does eno think of the grateful dead. ??
ОтветитьAnother green world..I bought it when it came out in 70s...and had its own special vibe....I miss the record shops...what a shame its now a button pushing world of internet
Ответить"A lot of people are crippled by not knowing the answer, and so they just choose an inappropriate answer. Just for the want of an answer. And so you just have to accept that you don't know the answers and you will make mistakes and you will need to change your values and your tools, and some of you them might last you a lifetime. But, you're lucky if that happens. I haven't got any that lasted me a lifetime."
-Brian Eno
Brian Eno did his best work on Apollo Atmospheres
Cocteau Twins / Robin Guthrie best work is Bluebell Knoll
I have great respect for both of you. Regarding the text here: If the inference of Eno 'creating" Ambient music was that he began making it, that is fine. If the inference is he was the FIRST to do it, not so fine.
Brian Eno no more invented Ambient Music than he invented his favorite color mixture of Mauve. He may have coined the name, that's it. Both heavy and light, electronic and instrumental, mildly active and drone minimalism in music had been going on since 1965 and predated Eno's work by over 13 years.
It doesn't bother me at all that he is incorrectly credited for this by others. It does however when in interview he allows it to be inferred without clarification.
I could listen to these two chat forever
ОтветитьWhenever I approach to Eno's music it always comes to me the reflection that ambient music tends to dissolve your limits so that you can get immersed into the All. Melody is the expression of ego calling up for attention as the center of music. As a musician, dissolving the melody and even the harmony you may find yourself on a new place where you can connect with something else.
ОтветитьThe Enovator;))))
ОтветитьAutotune is horseshit end of story. Queen and Peter Frampton are the only people that got away with it and it was used sparingly, and they obviously also triumphed without it.
ОтветитьPhenomenal interview by two titans
