Excellent content! Clear and concise. Well done Tim!
ОтветитьTwo thoughts:
1. if there is some data printed on a box of electrodes, like the thickness of the welded material or how many amps you need- usually it's bullcrap and makes you burn holes. Take a piece of metal and test different settings.
2.welding thin sheet metal with electrodes is not a good idea, get a MIG/TIG welder. You won't waste time and you will be much less frustrated with a proper tool applied to the job.
Dude... teach not preach
ОтветитьThank you so much for making such a clear and organized video! Your presentation style is so easy to understand and you cover things in such good detail without being overwhelming. Great teaching! Much appreciated!
ОтветитьDoes Tim have a q&a page?
Ответитьhi, my welding machine over loaded and blow up, it cost expensive to repair ?
ОтветитьI have a massive sticking problem with striking the arc. My rods stick instantaneously, and stick hard. I have no idea how to solve this. Every instructor seems to brush over this- but I will take the hit for the team. What needs to happen to stop instant sticking? Its so frustrating because “oh its easy”. Well, no, it isn’t easy for me.
ОтветитьA safety concern of mine: when attempting to brace for a weld, can you use the metal workbench or stabilize off of other surfaces of the workpiece? It's been drilled into me pretty well that electrcity can kill you pretty easily. So I'd like to be cautious.
ОтветитьThank you for all the great information and experience you shared.
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, good visual as well. I subscribed for all the latest videos
ОтветитьI learned to stick weld on the old Lincoln buzz box.. ... I own a century 155GL mig..... I recently bought the harbor freight vulcan 195 ... I can't weld with it... either it burns through or else the rod ( 7018 ) gets stuck... is there a basic setting for current / arc force. To make it perform like the old buzz box
ОтветитьTim....You're the best! Had a knack for stick welding when I was 18...enjoyed it too...I am now 60 and purchased a nice inverter 5 way mig/tig/gas/tig welder. Hoping its like riding a bike. Am confident after watching you that I can get back in the saddle. Your video was superb! Soo glad I found you sir.
ОтветитьCan I use 7018 with the Lincoln 225
Ответитьthanks for the video do i need to turn the welder off before i can put another stick in the electrode holder ?
ОтветитьWhy is the first pass done with 6010? Why not do all my passes with 7018?
ОтветитьTim you rock!
Ответитьi love you teaching
ОтветитьNone of these videos talk about the importance of GROUNDING the metal. What if you don't have a metal welding table. How do you ground two small pieces of metal. Which one do you ground? Etc!! Please.... talk about GROUNDING!!!
ОтветитьGreat video thankyou
ОтветитьFantastic instructional!! What number rod would you recommend is best for car exhaust repairs...ie filling breaks and rust holes? Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you for taking the time to make and upload these videos! I had a weld crack in my motorcycle exhaust bracket about two weeks ago and decided to stop wishing I knew how to weld. Already repaired that weld and some that didn't need repair lol. I'm going to have a look at your courses purely to show my appreciation for what you've done here. Is there anything else to learn that you haven't already covered though?
ОтветитьThanks you so much!!!
ОтветитьGreat information
.👍
My Grandad has one of those old transformer welders, he's 101 years old (102 in 10/08/2023 (08/10/2023 for you americans) the machine sure is older than me, still works fine
ОтветитьI’m gona try for the submarine now too!!

ОтветитьI use to do exotic welding for the Fed out west back in the day, always interested in advances.
ОтветитьThanks for your clear explanation, just what this total beginner needed to get started. I've got a very old transformer welder I believe. Going to have a play with it now I have some idea of where to start. Cheers from Down Under!
ОтветитьOne of the best explanations for stick welding
ОтветитьTim, i am new to this lesson of welding & also a beginner, I live in Northeast Thailand, i never know about those numbers on electrode rod & has an specific usage, i use 6013 RB-26 & E6013 i use them both but my question is how come when i use a higher voltage on the welding box the electrode tend to draw a hole on the metal instead of connecting 2 metals together, & my other question is when i use a lower voltage of the electrode the welding rod tend to stick on the metal & not responding to the welding process, can you give me an advice how to use them properly, & i cannot used wood here in Thailand because it is the Termites capital of the World because you can see them everywhere from the wet ground or just leave it out there & next thing use see are termites so i prefer to use metal because termites don't eat metal, cement or glass, thank you for your video & i keep on repeating it over & over until the words you are saying register in my mind, thank you again
ОтветитьThis was perfect for me I missed my 1st day of school due to a breakdown at work, and I feel like I am caught up on what I missed, thanks. Today was my actual 1st day and 1st spark.
ОтветитьHello BOB can you please tell something about electrode essab 309
ОтветитьGreat job Tim!
ОтветитьMarvelous presentation. This will be helpful to people just starting out.
ОтветитьYou also need a respirator, because Arc welding produces some nasty gases like nitrogen oxide or dioxide, I forget
ОтветитьI have 2 of the Lincoln Tombstone welders one is from 1973 the other is brand new they both work great you can run 7018 all day the most stable arc I’ve ever had with AC
ОтветитьSick
ОтветитьThank you for your video, it helped me a lot
ОтветитьLove your videos... Appreciate all the details and explanations. So thorough. Great content... Thank you...
ОтветитьI’m new to stick welding and today I was doing fine on my project until I got to the last part of it. I literally could not get the “match strike” and have the rod keep working, just strike and would not continue to work for me???? Just get a strike and nothing afterwards, why??
ОтветитьGreat job thank you
Ответить⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
ОтветитьI watched the entire video to get a laugh when you introduced yourself 😅 informative video thanks

ОтветитьGreat video Tim!! I'm going to go build a submarine!! I got this!! :-)
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьDoes any of this change if you're welding aluminum?
ОтветитьNIce video. I have never arc welded but after watching your video I feel confident to give it a try.
