I haven't replied to a video before. I so agree with the (3) points you made in such an easy manner, that I felt compelled. Keep up the good work.

What do you do if you are like me, 76 years old, and struggle to get a 5 iron to a 143 yards?

This video is so important, especially for all club golfers.
It highlights how tricky the game of golf can be if you are not thinking about strategy.
Par 3’s are the type of holes where once you hit a poor tee shot, there’s virtually no recovery shot, compared to a par 4 or 5 where you have shots and more options to play with.
It would be great to play a round of golf with you guys, thanks Danny for a great lesson.

Hi Danny, thank you for al, the great content. Would it be possible for you to create a video about leg movement especially the front leg when swinging I have a problem with too much bend to too much lift . Thanks

Love it Danny. This video is more about "how to play golf" and less about "how to hit the golf ball." Want more videos like these! ;-)

Another great video. I try and follow a similar routine but I use an app called VPAR on my iPhone to get gps distances to pin front and back, do you think there’s much to be gained from a laser range finder?

Excellent video Danny. This is one aspect of the game most of us don't take enough time on but is as perhaps more important. The other day I hit a perfect drive on a par 4 that ended up going to far into a creek I didn't take into account it has been dry and hot. Should have hit 5 wood. Excellent tip thanks!!

@annetaylor8405
@annetaylor8405 - 07.06.2021 18:01

Here is my way of scoring lower scores on par 3s, I use a driver on most par 3s from 100 yards and up. The reason, I avoid doubles or worse. I hit the greens about 50% but when I miss it's usually an easy up and down and I win closest to pins a lot of times. It takes a bit of getting used to it, by choking down on short par 3s and punching the ball. The only times I don't use the driver is when there is water in front of the green and I have been known to put back-spin with the driver. I shoot regularly in the low to mid-80s by avoiding doubles or higher on par3s, that's my secret to lower scores!!!

Great stuff as usual, Danny. I can't get my golf buddies to understand this, they never assess where the trouble is on the hole, and they never care about any number except yards to the pin.

Why specify this as a Par 3 thought process? Surely this applies to all approach shots. The only difference for a Par 3 is you have a more consistent ‘lie’ and the advantage of teeing up, everything else you spoke about applies.

Loved seeing the collaboration! Great tips on assessing and not being afraid to club up and the emphasis on committing to the shot....speaking of committing, if you bail, you will fail as the body is working instinctively to make the shot while the mind screams “no, no, no...” See it (assess), feel it (commit to the club, shot shape) trust it (commit to the shot, stay in it all the way through)

Great video Danny and Matt. My home course, Glencorse GC, has 8 par threes on it and often I find myself falling into the trap of being over familiar with the hole I’m on and thinking I play this with this club. Going to put this into practice and take my time making theses assessments to my shots.
