I’m the only person i know that likes vienna sausages lol. They are definitely an acquired taste. I grew up eating them a lot as a kid so unfortunately i like the taste of them as an adult. I get a lot of questionable looks when i bring them as a snack to work lmao

You have to be there at the right time to get those English muffins. I usually buy a couple packs bc they are surprisingly good and so cheap. Softest EMs I’ve had in a while.
They’re a very popular and sought after item so they go fast.
I recently spent half the year surviving off of dollar tree and dollar general food, so I’ve learned which stuff to grab when I see it lol

At dollar general they have frozen cubed South West style chicken and a Taco Bell chipotle sauce, I buy their 1.75 flour tortillas and make my own chicken quesadillas. Super quick and easy, filling, and not TOO costly overall. Most expensive is the cheese ($3 bordens brand Mexican blend) and $2.50 for the precooked cubed southwest chicken. I can get two quesadillas from one chicken pack. And it feels like a real meal. Obviously it would be more cost effective to buy a bigger bag of chicken and season it yourself, but when you’re tired and depressed, the cubed chicken being already seasoned was a breath of fresh air. I just cooked on a skillet to brown it for a bit better flavor for a couple minutes, and the whole process of making a quesadilla takes only a few minutes. So so easy.

Dollar tree is a great place to get basics to make good filling from scratch dinners, and the occasional good deal on a rogue item. But I think from time to time you can do better per unit at a normal grocery store if you buy their store brand.

I am on Social Security Disability I get $1700. 00 a month I have rent ,utilities ,and insurance if it wasn't dollor store I would not have survived the last 4 years it would have been eating or paying for my medical bills even though I have medicare 5 years ago I was only making $1100 but was getting buy with money left over at the end of the month now I am pinching pennys or move back in with my parents at age 49 is very lame I spend about $60.00 a month at the dollor store and what ever I can't there I go to grocery outlet and if I still can't find everything I am looking for I will go to Walmart and only get exactly what I need but nothing else. Tried getting EBT card but they gave one and get a cool $20.00 a month

I liked the cuts between the challenge to investigation sections as they kept me engaged. I occasionally visit dollar stores just to pick up candy or a drink, but I'll be avoiding them now. Thanks for this video!!

Navigating Dollar store options is certainly a skill that needs to be learned and in high income areas without a high income job Like San Jose, dollar stores existence is cheaper and is a godsend for me. In short, I much rather have a Dollar general then another whole food in the area and in such an area with options, Dollar stores are not directly competing with mom and pop grocery shops, as they genuinely don't quite exist anymore in these areas they are already mostly displaced by the other megacorp like Walmart and Target already. The local grocery stores don't even occupy the same price bracket and market as the dollar store as they are more competing directly with other grocery mega chains such as Safeway.

As there is a genuine abundance of options in the area, Dollar tree has become my go-to for stocking up on very specific goods such as canned item. Campbell soup corn, and various other canned item are always half the price for the same item. Do not buy anything that is volatile in nature and don't even bother touching the freezer. As a frequent Dollar Tree patron, I called out the diarrhea corner, name for a very obvious reason. Their milk is bad, The vegetable has been refrozen probably seven times for every single dollar tree I've been to. Their shelf stable pantry fresh milk is way better in terms of an option. Also I would never touch anything that is over a dollar at a dollar store, partially because of principals partially because those sucks. Where there is option, In my case, a lot of the low value item can be ignored completely and be purchased at a local supermarket with fresh food options.

TLDR, dollar store have their place as an cheap alternative in a saturated market in which some bad value or quality items can be avoided all together.

It was on the tip of your tongue so many times but never quite mentioned that part of the problem with people not being able to get the larger portion for only slightly more, leading to a better deal, is that for many people despite the deal being better, they simply don’t the money up front to pay for that among other necessities. The lack of access to other stores is a major issue, but even with access to those stores it’s not always accessible to purchase the “better deal” from these places

I usually get the regular Vienna's. I think it was just the brand you got, I haven't had does ones before.

Most of these foods are sold at food 4 less but just more expensive
