Selling Digital Products on Etsy is DEAD and what to do Instead

I don't think Etsy is dead for digital, but it's more difficult to become profitable unless you're pumping out tons of decent listings per day in trending niches, or you're great at finding trending themes and creating unique designs. I found several new stores that are less than 6 months old that have surpassed 10k sales with less than 100 listings. They are also pricing at the top end of about $4 for a single design. This is in the PNG niche which is hugely saturated. However, I noticed they all were able to create unique style designs and seem to mainly focus on Holidays and other trendy Etsy niches. However, they could probably charge more by selling their designs on POD products on their own website versus selling for $4 for someone else to make all the money. After Etsy fee's and ads they are probably making less than $3. I also think a lot of Etsy digital products sellers that have saturated the market lately bottoming out prices are in countries where $1 to $3 in profit per design is decent money for them. Then they have a team of people creating designs. I say this because some stores are able to pump out 20 to 30 listings per day. Even with AI, it would be difficult for one person to create that many listings per day unless the designs are trash.

It's so saturated. I'd rather sell my in demand items with a website and run some ads. There are still a ton of shops on Etsy that make hundreds of sales a day

Won't people still go to your website and copy your ideas and then create them on Etsy whether your on Etsy are not theft will still happen? I just don't undetstand how that's a valid point to argue from. I do agree with your other points.

You are wrong!!! I work 2 hours oer day and I have only one designer. I am making 20k per month just 500 digital products. And no ads, I can see you have no idea about digital products. All brands suffer about imitations or others copy their products.

Any way at all to build my own website completely for free? Bc of severe financial duress I can’t even afford a domain and hosting. Most have free trials, but I would have to cancel before I start getting charged and I don’t want to do tons of work building my site just to have to delete it. It would only be until I start making sales, but I have no idea how long that will take bc I’ve been trying for a couple years and my sales have been abysmal. Even with original, quality digital products.

Very interesting. I've only been on Etsy for 4 months, I've sold very little yet. But I realized right away that I should expand so I don't depend so much on Etsy. I replicated my products on other platforms and recently opened the same store on Shopify.
Watching your video, I don't know if I should keep it or focus on what you explain. I've been uploading my products to Shopify for a week but then I have to generate traffic...my social networks are still poor, over 300 followers. With your system it would be easier for me? and where do you advertise the products? there is no showcase like on Etsy? what do you recommend?

Omg! This is GOLD!! I am at that step where I need to determine a platform to sell from and Etsy just never appealed to me because of all the things you mentioned! Thank you for clarifying why it is not a long term business plan! Good video. I recently open a Etsy shop to sell digital products and I noticed I start getting sales when I dropped prices to $ 1.99. Crazy that 4 hours of work worth $ 1.99. Yes people copy my work and selling it even cheaper!
