I can appreciate the computer's ability to analyze basically countless different alternatives to a problem and determine the best solution to a given set of requirements. That's great.

BUT, I don't want to be following orders from a computer. I don't want more "autonomy" from my computer, my car, my farm tractor, etc. Those things are TOOLS and I want them to do what I need them to do, WHEN AND HOW I want it done. Like my pitiful computer, that's constantly slow and telling me my web browser "isn't responding" or that it's occupied with other tasks I didn't tell it to do. I don't care about whatever stupid "other task" it's doing, and I don't care for it to tell me that it's "not responding" which YEAH I can already friggin' see that; I gave an instruction and I expect it to be followed-- it should be the TOP of the list, superseding its other 'priorities' or tasks which it can then use those resources to do what I need or want done, and deferring the other tasks until resources are available... for instance, look up the friggin information I just requested, and run whatever stupid internal malarkey that's impeding the process LATER, say while I'm actually taking my time reading the information I called for, which demands very little resources from the machine.

OR, the stupid computerized transmission and engine controls in my minivan. Stupid thing has a six speed transmission, and can't figure out how to shift. If I try to use moderate acceleration so as to save fuel after a turn ascending a hill, the stupid computer decides that it can shift up 2 gears prematurely, and the d@mn thing will then lose speed badly until I press the pedal 3/4 of the way to the floor and THEN it decides it needs to downshift TWO gears and rev the engine up to 4,500 rpms in low gear to accelerate going up the hill... its "control logic" is flawed or stupidly written. Granted the car doesn't know a hill is there-- it's only reading inputs I give it through the stupid "drive by wire" accelerator position sensor in the pedal, the throttle position sensor on the engine throttle plate, the crank and cam sensors reading the rotational speed of the engine and comparing it to throttle position and airflow rates from the mass airflow sensor to determine engine load versus speed, oxygen sensors determining the exhaust gas oxygen levels to control the fuel injection timing and bandwidth and spark timing, wheel speed sensors telling the computer the car's speed versus the throttle position load vs. speed data compared to what I'm "signaling" the computer to do via the accelerator pedal position and its sensor telling the computer "give it more gas to accelerate faster" and all that playing out on maps in the computer to determine shift points, which are obviously not programmed correctly (it was the first year of the 6 speed computerized automatic).

I actually prefer driving my 2005 minivan because it DOES NOT have all that "drive by wire" garbage on it... while it's computerized, the throttle cable is connected directly from the pedal to the throttle body on the engine, meaning I directly control how much air is going into the engine, by how much I mash the pedal, instead of the frigging computer which is following a map to minimize emissions regardless of what input I'm giving it. The computer reads the throttle position sensor of the throttle body plate and compares engine speed vs. load and determines the shift points, but they are TOTALLY PREDICTABLE-- If I mash the pedal to a given position, the car will accelerate steadily in the same gear WITHOUT making unnecessary downshifts... if the hill is too steep and I apply more power, by mashing the pedal a bit more, the car PREDICTABLY downshifts ONE gear electronically, allowing the engine to rev a predictable amount. I drive a school bus as well, and the new buses are the same way-- TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE and the stupid computer CONSTANTLY trying to "outguess" me as the driver, and CONSTANTLY FAILING-- shifting up too soon on a hill and losing speed, then it reads that via its sensors and has to downshift and rev the engine, which it doesn't want to do to lower emissions, supposedly to save fuel as well but a lugging engine burns more fuel than a higher-revved engine operating at an optimal load/speed ratio, all the extra shifting just generates waste heat which is wasted energy/fuel and extra friction and wear in the transmission, etc. My old bus was a 1991, all mechanical fuel injection and mechanically shifted automatic transmission (hydraulically controlled). Easy peasy to work on, simple and works great. The transmission is shifted by a series of spring shift signal valves to apply and release the shift clutches in the transmission, which respond to hydraulic main line pressure, which is determined by the transmission pump creating oil flow, which is selectively dumped (bypassed to the oil pan) or maintained in the system by the governor using flyweights to detect speed of the driveshaft (thus vehicle speed since it turns the axle) and the kickdown cable, which is a bypass valve directly controlled via cable to the accelerator pedal. As pressure increases, each valve moves in sequence as it overcomes the pressure exerted on it by the spring behind it, shifting the transmission, SMOOTHLY AND PREDICTABLY, with inbuilt "shift logic" that was simple and elegant. It could be adjusted via shims or swapping springs when the transmission was calibrated or built. Add a computer and a bunch of inputs into the mix made it NEEDLESSLY COMPLICATED and only served to SCREW UP THE WORKS.

Not EVERYTHING needs to be computer controlled. Most things actually benefit from the simplest control scheme possible. There are SOME benefits to computerization, but like the transmission I mentioned, or many of the modern farm equipment machines I deal with, there's FAR too much computerization on them and it's actually IMPEDING getting the work done efficiently. MOST of the additional computerization is to make up for STUPID drivers or operators that don't know what they're doing; if they were PROPERLY trained, it could be avoided. My brother's new John Deere tractor he used to run for his employer had SIX computers on it-- and was in the shop more than in the field. The job is the same, and we managed to accomplish it for decades without all the computerized garbage on the machine. I'll admit that GPS technology and computerized monitors on some machines have actually helped some agricultural jobs like planting and harvesting and spraying be achieved better and more efficiently, but beyond a certain level its just extraneous and overly complicates the operation, and becomes a detriment because its unreliable and increasingly subject to malfunctions and need of repairs, and usually stops the operation altogether when it breaks down, and is excessively expensive and difficult to repair. There's nothing inherently "magical" about planting or harvesting or spraying-- we've done it for decades/centuries without computerization, and many still do today. Using computerization to IMPROVE things without making it RELIANT upon it functioning to CONTROL everything, IOW "fail safe" so that operations can continue even when the computer and sensors and stuff malfunctions, SHOULD be the primary design criteria for engineers designing these systems.

In short, technology should SERVE US, do what WE tell IT what to do, NOT the other way around! OL J R :)

A system like this could put everyone out of work and make people more dependent on companies like Google I'm not ok with that !

Yeah, we use our phones but if my phone runs out of battery I can continue functioning as a human being. If my future brain augmentations run out of battery while I am outside, what would happen? Or my augmented eyes?

For that matter, judging by our experiences with our phones, imagine turning on your augmented eyes when you wake up to find out you have a 30 seconds unskippable ad. Or the company that made your eyes being able to track the things you see during the day. Or the company that did your augmented ears listening what you hear, at all times. Or the company that did your brain augmentations knowing... what you think?

The future could be promising, but since those things will be made by humans to get a profit, I'm a bit cynical about it.

i just wanna say this is BS look up things like polymath, leonardo da vinci or Viktor Schauberger even nikola tesla they all studied the natural order of nature and the universe but DO NOT try to blue pill me and tell me a human is not capable of designing these things and that i need to depend on A.I. and just to leave you with some wisdom even the bible says THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE and one more - "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened." okay maybe just one more - "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
